Default Mama's Family appreciation thread!

A few years ago I had no idea how many Mama fans were out there! The only people that I know personally who watch Mama are myself, my husband and my dad! I thought that I was weird or something. No one else that I know has even watched it! Thinking it is just a dumb mindless sitcom. Well, we know better don't we?! I love you guys! Just thought that I would tell you that!

Amen to that!

I got started watching Mama's Family in late 2000 to early 2001 (although I remember watching it on TV when it was in its original run)...They had Family Ties on in the 7am CST slot on TBS when I was in 10th grade, then they kicked it off and placed MF in that timeslot...So I would watch MF every morning while I was getting ready for school, but I only saw bits and pieces of it, since I took my shower at 7, but I would try to sit down and watch at least 5 whole minutes of MF. When I told my mom about a TV show called "Mama's Family" being on TBS, she said, "That's a horrible show! I don't like it!" but I said, "Well, I like it! So there!" And, little did I know that after only two and a half years of watching MF, I would meet Mama herself. How's that for cool?

Now I am a rabid fan...Ah, I love MF. And I love you guys, too!

Awww!!

I started watching MF in the summer of 2001. It's hard to believe that it will be my 3rd year annivesary with this show, this summer. MF is very special to me. My own grandmother got my mom and I to watch this show. I'm very glad she did! After three years, I have most all of the eps on tape, and Betty's, Rue's, Vicki's, and Carol's autographs. I will never stop watching MF, not ever. And, it's only 2 months now until I see our "Mama" in person!!! Yay!!

And, I also love all of you.

I've loved Mama's Family for years now. I don't remember when I started watching, but I can remember watching at the many various TBS time slots (Early morning, late morning, and in the afternoon!) Anybody remember when it came on at like 4:05pm?? For awhile it also came on at like 9:05am or 10:05am. Well anyway...

I record it everyday and my mom and I make a point to watch it everynight!! We love it so much!!! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't see Mama, Vint, Naomi, Iola, and Bubba everyday! You know you've got it bad when they creep into your daily conversations!!

I am so glad I've found others who are just as nuts over Mama as me!! It's so much fun to discuss Mama with other fans!!

Yep, I agree...but I disagree that it's "dumb and mindless"; that's an insult. The dialogue for the show was very cleverly written, the character layers and relationship in the show are actually complex and intriguing when you look at 'em up close, and the genius of inventing Raytown and all of it's businesses, stores, restaurants, and colorful characters indeed creates a world of its own.

I've been with the show since 1983 as a tot, and watched/taped it RAVENOUSLY from about 1990 10 1994 or '95 in reruns on a local station.

The Harpers always make me laugh (thanks to some great witty dialogue, and wonderful expressions [particularly Mama]), and I'll treasure 'em forever!

I love this show. I started to watch it like 2 years ago also. I especially love Vicki, Ken and his wife.

I love the outside of the house too. it looks so homey.

I don't remember if I watched Mama's Family when it was first run. I may have seen an episode here or there but I wasn't really into it at the time. Then in the early 90's I was watching a tape my brother had made and there were a few Mama's Family episodes on it - as I recall there were the Hawaii episodes on it, and the one where Mama and Iola are fighting for Presidency of the CLL - and I just kept watching those episodes over and over because I liked them so much. Then when I found out Mama's Family was on TBS I was just in heaven! And I've loved it ever since!

I really got into Mama during its final syndication season in 1990. I started taping it off TBS in 1997-1999. I am so glad that I got all the episodes on tape! I have been watching them again the past 2 weeks. They never get old! I love them! Long live Mama's Family!
