Default Grocery Coupons

I was never big on clipping coupons, although I went through a faze 12 years ago, and it was like a hobby. I once got $100 worth of groceries for $35. It took a lot of work and planning when I was into coupons.

I've noticed that the last couple of years, coupons are just not what they used to be. Most coupons are maybe 25 or 50 cents off of 2, often 3 or more items.

In today's coupon flyer, there was a coupon for Campbells soup -- 30 cents off 5 cans. What a joke.

Also, they expire so fast now -- 1, 2 maybe 3 months max.

It used to be that there were tons of $1 coupons that were good for a year. Some even had no expiration date.

There are still the occasional good coupons, but it's not what it used to be. All the fun's gone out of it.

Anyone else notice this?

Yeah...I've noticed. But I still clip them. 5 cents is 5 cents. To me anyway. I did get $1.25 off shampoo today though.

I work at a grocery store, and I hate coupons. Theyre a freaking pain. All the old people (90% of the people that come in the store) have like 354689406764598574389 coupons and it annoys me. Half of them don't work so I have to type them in and explain to the old people that they didnt get enough of one thing to use the coupon. Coupons need to go to hell.

I am a cashier, and I just want to say to you coupon clippers please, please, please give the cashier the coupon before she starts scanning everything, or even better put it on the item you are using it on. This makes it easier for the cashier look for the items that you are using the coupons on, and makes your trip to the store quicker.

I am a coupon whore. I go shopping once a month @ Shaws. I love Shaws.. they double all coupons 99 cents and under! Plus they sometimes TRIPLE them, and every once in a while Shaws have promotions in the mail for $12 off a $120 purchase, $5 of $50, etc.. The most I ever saved with coupons was $107 and change. That was back in July and the total came to about $130 for the month. On average I save about $80 in coupons. Although lately, Ive been slacking. I went shopping last week for the month and only saved $55.55-- thats s**t!! Im so disappointed in myself. Not to mention the total came to $228- I usually keep the total under $150. *sobs* Im slacking!!!!

I work @ a grocery store too and I LOVE doing the coupons! But, my biggest pet peeve is when people dont cut them-- instead they rip them. God, thats so annoying. I take pride (perhaps too much ) in clipping my coupons. I also HATE when people dig through their pockets and give me their coupons all crumpled. Im a neat freak when it comes to putting all the different slips in my black bag @ work, and I hate when I have to cut the coupons or bend them flat.

Have you been using coupons long enough to remember when a multiple purchase wasn't required? It's not like it used to be.

No. Ive been doing the shopping since August 2002. Coupons are nothing like they used to be- just like the toys in cereal boxes. Yah, I get a lot of good coupons on stuff if I really look.. but most of the stuff is $1 off 3 or whatever.. somethings will have cereal $1 off 3 boxes. Cereal isnt cheap.. so $1 off 3 boxes isnt that much of a sale.
