Meathead, Mike, and Archie - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

How many times did Archie get called a "meathead"? I remember at least four times. A female politician called him a "meathead" when discussing the issues. A former co-worker reveled that he always called him "meathead", Archie revealed that his father used to call him a "meathead", and in an episode of the Jeffersons, after George and Louise described Archie to a hypnotist, he said, "Sounds like a real 'meathead'".

Also, how many times did Archie call Mike, "Mike" instead of "meathead"? When Archie was trapped in the elevator and heard Mike's voice, he yelled out "Mike!" (Quite understandable in such circumstances). When Archie was fired from his job, I believe he said, "Hi there, Mike" because he had no fight left in him at the time. I think Archie called him "Mike" when he was getting him drunk to find out if that "preevert" was fooling around behind Gloria's back. When they visited the Stivics in California, Archie called him "Mike" and said, "What the hell, it's Christmas". I also believe there were a couple of times that Archie may have called him "Mike" in the first season when the catch phrases were not completely developed yet.

On a couple of slightly OT subjects: The term "meathead" far outdates All In The Family. In a lost episode of the Honeymooners, Ralph was yelling at Norton, and Trixie said to her husband, "Are you going to stand there and let this meathead talk to you like that!?"

Finally, vegetarians are sometimes antagonistically called "Veg Heads" by carnivores. Their comeback? "If vegetarians are 'Veg Heads', what does that make meat eaters?"

And if anyone didn't think this message had enough meat to it, well, that's just tough, I thought it was well done.

What is the point of This thread? Are you saying that Archie was unaware he was the REAL MEATHEAD?

He was just pointing out how many times Archie was called a meathead. And how far back that term goes.

Yes, that was in the "kleptomaniac" episode (don't know the exact title). The store manager, Mr. Kirkwood, said his wife had a name for people like Archie: "You are a narische kopf*!"
