It's one of my favs too. I really liked the young actors who portrayed the Fletcher kids. Too bad they couldn't have been in more eps.

Yeah, I really liked it also - very poignant. I haven't seen it in quite a while, though. (If it was recently shown - I missed it!)

I agree. Very good episode. This is one episode where June's fear shows about her little boy just being a boy and playing in a garbage dump. I can't believe how uptight she was about it and then she was worried that these boys might be too rough.

I liked this episode, too, but what I couldn't understand was, how come Wally simply didn't invite "Pete" (the older boy) to the movies with he and Toohey? That would have been a nice gesture on his part. Moreover, he more or less 'dumped' Toohey to stick around with the other boys.

Anybody else notice this?

Yeah I noticed that too. I guess he didn't think of that. I don't like the way that June reacted in that episode. She acted like just because their father was the garbage man that they didn't have any values. Besides all that I still like the episode.

First of all, I completely agree that June was acting very stuck up about the trashman's kids, jumping to the conclusion that they would be "rough" boys. No question about it. Unfortunately, those attitudes still prevail. But it was also interesting how she got her feelings her because their mom "lets kids do what they want to do" June was having kind of a hissy fit, wasn't she? (for June, that is.)

The other thing was how the Toohey issue was handled. I found it very interesting that Wally made it all the way to the phone, but then had to have Ward get him off the hook. And Ward had no problem. Ward really was breaking a social commitment for Wally. Isn't that kind of rude? I mean, I think the whole point of the ep was that the boys learned that their own home had a lot to offer after all, which is why, i believe, that wally couldn't have just invited pete to the movies. And i think Wally had to choose to not go with Toohey, but he should have taken the call himself and said, Toohey I can't go. Beav's got a friend and his brother, and well, you know how it is..."

Yeah, I thought Ward's response was rather uncharacteristic. Normally, he would have had Wally respond to the caller, and not make up excuses for him.

Maybe Wally didn't want his friends to meet Pete because Pete was a very well mannered and polite boy. Tooey and the other guys probably would have picked on him and then made fun of Wally later for befriending him. Pete even treated Beaver as an equal, something that Wally's other pals rarely did.
