Why didn't Mary stay with Robbie? What did Robbie do then?

I remember Mary broke up with Robbie a few weeks later when Robbie proposed to Mary and she accpeted. Robbie's parents were apart so Robbie was homeless, so he ended up at the Camdens'

Robie became a very responsible young man living at the camdens, infact eric and annie made a statement about not trusting mary when she came to visit from buffalo, but they did trust robie, mary and robiie could never get togather after that their timing was real bad, either mary was with someone and robie wanted her back, or robie was with someone and mary wanted him back, it was wierd with them, but mary eventualy married carlos a guy who was once homeless and the camdens took in for a few days a few years ago.

I remember Mary breaking up and Robbie and Mary getting engaged and it was so nice the Camdens took him in and sad that his parents were torn apart!!
