Default Frasier Facts

Courtesy of VH1.com

John Mahoney, despite his all-American accent is actually British. John was born on June 20th 1940 in Manchester (the hometown of Daphne).

David Hyde Pierce made his first brief screen appearance as a doomed trucker in James Cameron's The Terminator.

The engagement ring that Niles gives to Daphne is a Harry Winston diamond ring worth $75,000. The final say went to Jane Leeves: she went for a three-carat oval-cut diamond set in platinum.

The call letters of the radio station at which Frasier works is actually the initials of the last names of the creators of the show "Frasier". It is the creators, David Angell, Peter Casey, and David Lee, who put the "ACL" in "KACL."

Kelsey Grammer has played the role of Frasier on 3 different sitcoms- Frasier, Cheers, and Wings.

On an episode of The Simpsons, David Hyde Pierce joined Kelsey Grammer (as Sideshow Bob) as Sideshow Bob’s brother, Cecil.

The original idea was to have Mel Torme sing the opening theme song, but Angell, Casey, and Lee nixed it.

ane Leeves was best known to British viewers as a dancer on The Benny Hill Show until Frasier came along.

David Hyde Pierce was hospitalized after falling and hitting his head on the stage floor during a rehearsal of a physical comedy scene on September 9th, 2003.

John Mahoney appeared on one episode of Cheers as a jingle writer who wrote a jingle for the bar.

Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin started a production company together called Bristol Cities.

Jane came to Hollywood in 1984 from England. She worked as a babysitter to pay her bills.

Kelsey Grammer warms up the studio audience before the taping of each show.

Jane was going to be a dancer but injured herself at 18.

When Niles comments on Daphne's weight loss in the episode "It Takes Two To Tangle," it is actually an inside joke on Jane having a baby. Niles tells Roz at Cafe Nervosa in the opening scene that Daphne has "already lost 9 lbs. 12 oz." while at her reducing spa, which is exactly how much Jane's daughter weighed at birth.

Jane Leeves had done 8 pilots prior to Frasier and was offered roles in two more when she won the role of Daphne.

The producers took John Mahoney to “Shaw’s Crab House” in Chicago to offer him the role of Martin.

Jane once worked on syndicated sitcom called Throb.

Peri Gilpin was in one episode in Cheers “Woody Gets An Election” as a reporter.

Kelsey saw Jimi Hendrix in concert a month before he died at the Miami High Life Palace.

David Hyde Pierce’s first concert was the Philadelphia Orchestra with Eugene Ormanday.

The character of restaurant critic Gil Chesterton is named after a well regarded journalism teacher at Beverly Hills High School. His former students who went onto acclaim as writers include Christopher Lloyd, former executive producer and head writer of Frasier (1993-2000).

David Hyde Pierce began taking piano lessons at the age of 8, and wanted to pursue a career as a concert pianist until he discovered acting while attending Yale.

David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves rehearsed the dance scene in “Moondance” several times at each other’s houses because they wanted it to be perfect in the show.

When Peri Gilpin found out she got the part of Roz she was so excited she accidentally walked out on a check and was chased down in the parking lot of a fancy French restaurant.

cool!

I'd just like to add a couple more, though:
Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe on "Friends") was first cast as Roz, but after they started filming the pilot it became obvious that she & Kellsey Grammer weren't right together.

The only other american actor who has played the same sitcom character for a longer time than Kellsey Grammar was Jack Beney.

DHP has publicly said that he was *never* in the Terminator movie.

That was the other David Pierce (the older actor who had registered the name"David Pierce" with SAG which meant that DHP had to use his middle name when he registered with the acting union). I have him on video tape saying this when he appeared on an interview show with Regis when Frasier was beginning its eighth season.

John Mahoney was also on "Cheers" once.

And the set of Frasiers apartment is on the site of the "Cheers" bar.

Orriganly, Frasier wasn't going to have a brother, but then they realized that he mentioned a brother once on "Cheers".

Also on "Cheers" once, he said that his father was a research scientist, and that Fraiser became a phsychirratist to fufill his fathers wish.
He also said that Martin was dead, but he explained on "Frasier" once, when Sam visited and was introduced to Martin, that he said that because he was mad at him at the time.

I dont like it.

I'll add mine:

Kelsey was told to shave his Cheers final season beard because the network was worried viewers wouldn't buy John Mahoney being old enough to be Frasier's dad.

The original Grammer show concept was him as an executive stuck in a bed with his assistants coming to and fro taking care of his business demands. The net exec in charge had to just come out and tell Grammer the idea was lame and they went with a Frasier spin-off.

Wouldn't it be something if Frasier was found out to have appeared on The Tortellis. That would make four shows!

Featuring Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasie Crane.
