Default PRIME February 2004---Lunch-hour lineup shuffle

PRIME has shuffled their weekday lineup in order to find a winning combination. It's not great but they're getting close. They've replaced the vomit-inducing "Who's The Boss?" with a couple of real shows: "Three's Company" at 12 noon and "Bewitched" at 12:30, back on PRIME after a brief absence. For more details about upcoming episodes, check the message boards for both shows. The complete weekday afternoon lineup now looks like this:

12:00 pm Three's Company
12:30 Bewitched
1:00 All In The Family
1:30 All In The Family
2:00 Roseanne
2:30 The Cosby Show
3:00 The Beverly Hillbillies
3:30 I Dream Of Jeannie
4:00 MASH
4:30 MASH
5:00 The A-Team

What I would have done was to have "Bewitched" and "The Beverly Hillbillies" trade places. I believe that Samantha and Jeannie were meant to be seen together! Still, it doesn't look too bad to me. At least give PRIME credit for at least trying something a little different.

This is how I would do their schedule:

12:00 pm "Petticoat Junction"
12:30 "Family Affair"
1:00 "Bewitched"
1:30 "I Dream of Jeannie"
2:00 "The Lucy Show"
2:30 "Petticoat Junction"
3:00 "Family Affair"
3:30 "Bewitched"
4:00 "I Dream of Jeannie"
4:30 "The Lucy Show"
5:00 "Three's Company"
5:30 "Three's Company"

P.S. I'm assuming they still have the rights to these three series: "The Lucy Show", "Petticoat Junction", and "Family Affair".

Actually, only "Petticoat Junction" belongs to PRIME. The others are all from CTS, or at least they were until CTS pulled them off the air last year. Still, I can understand how you can get the two channels mixed up.

Along with "Petticoat Junction" and the series I mentioned in the schedule, PRIME also owns the rights to the following:

Gilligan's Island
Hogan's Heroes
Taxi
Barney Miller
The Dick Van Dyke Show

All of these shows can be found on the digital station DejaView. If you'd like to try to work them into PRIME's schedule, by all means, give it a try. Anything would be an improvement.

Prime is a great channel. Three's Company just makes it better.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure if PRIME had the rights to either one of those shows I mentioned before. Now with this new information, here is my revised schedule:

12:00 pm "Petticoat Junction"
12:30 "The Dick Van Dyke Show"
1:00 "I Dream of Jeannie"
1:30 "Bewitched"
2:00 "All In The Family"
2:30 "All In The Family"
3:00 "Three's Company"
3:30 "Gilligan's Island"
4:00 "Three's Company"
4:30 "Bewitched"
5:00 "I Dream of Jeannie"
5:30 "The Dick Van Dyke Show"

I've stopped watching Prime. I used to watch AITF, but I've seen them all, as well as Roseanne. I've seen every episode from the first five seasons about 10 times. If they'd aquire the rights to the last four seasons I'd start watching again.

They got rid of The Golden Girls?

"The Golden Girls" are still on PRIME, only it's now on in the evening. Here's how the evening schedule looks. Turn away if you're squeamish:

7:00 pm The Price Is Right
8:00 Unsolved Mysteries
9:00 The Cosby Show
9:30 The Golden Girls
10:00 MASH
10:30 MASH

Isn't that awful? I could do better just picking shows at random---while blindfolded!

Actually, I like what LucyFan did with her schedule. It's amazing how easy it seems for a simple viewer to make a good schedule, but for PRIME program executives, they just don't have a clue!

Prime is definitely branding itself as an old network. It's too bad they can't afford more variety, or better variety, in their line-up.

I miss McHale's Navy on both DejaView and Prime. Neither station airs that show anymore. Does CanWest still own the rights to air it in Canada?

I believe that they do yet for reasons known only to themselves there doesn't seem to be any room for it on the schedule which I find very, very hard to believe!
