Default Ocd..

I havent been diagnosed with OCD but im about positive i have it.. i always have to make everything 'even', like if i touch something with one hand i have to touch it with the other or else i get irritated. and EVERYTHING i touch with my middle finger has to be touched with my index finger and vice versa, i have to use both fingers to click the mouse. ive been just dealing with it but its gotten so bad that i'm like that on the computer. like if i click on one side of the page, i have to click on the other. its annoying beyond belief.

Anyways if someone could tell me any ways to practice making this stop, or any kind of medications i would appreciate it so much because ive been like that pretty much my whole life and im so sick of it, it makes everything hard.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder pretty much defines me. It's so bad for me that I have to set things up in my room a certain way and since sometimes people can't even things for me I have to injure myself so it feels even. I've been suffering with it since I can remember but it got severe in the late 90's. I can't sleep anymore with the TV on, it unevens my right eye. It sounds so ridiculous, it makes me want to end my life. So, I understand how stressful it can be.

But there's no way to really make it stop. I hate the psychiatrist but I have an appointment planned to discuss when I raise the amount of medication I take. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) is a good medication for OCD, unfortunately I can't take it because it caused me some bad side-effects. Zoloft, Anafranil, Prozac, Paxil, etc. I have Zoloft, but I need to talk to my doctor before I go about taking it again. It's pretty much the only medication that goes well with me. Paxil gave me heart problems, but I hear it's used to treat OCD. I've never taken Prozac but it's a medication for OCD.

My psychiatrist told me OCD is not really cureable, but if you take medication you can control it. And since you have the same symptoms as me I can tell you this, once you're on a medication for a few weeks it should start to kick in. You need to practice not evening things out, as hard as it is. Or at least that's what I was informed to do a few years ago, just recently I've been serious about getting help.

Anyways, if you ever need anyone to talk to anyone about it I would be the best choice. I know the feeling completely.

I'm sorry that I don't have any information for you Sarah. It must be unbearable.

The best thing to do is to see a doctor who may refer you to a specialist. Good luck.

Sarah you need to go to a doctor. They can get you the right medication that you would need to help you feel better. You can't just make OCD go away by thinking about it. I have a mild form of OCD (it involves numbers) and if you even think you have it - go see your family doctor. He/She will help you from there.

I know what you mean about "even" Sarah. If something of mine gets moved or someone touches me or brushes accidently against me. I get annoyed very easily over it. It's most likely that I have OCD. I also have a problem with clicking the mouse button even if a page is loading I HAVE to click the button or I don't feel right. Sounds stupid, but I get irratated if I don't.

Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas to help make you stop doing what you do. I'd say try not to think about it but I know for a fact that doesn't help much.

ive been having the hardest time using the computer because of it. if i click on one of the minimized windows thingys on the taskbars, i have to click on all of them there. i have a hard time editing pictures on paint because if i make a mark on one side i have to do it on the other. if i highlight part of a word, i have to highlight it all. sometimes i just get the urge to close a window. in fact im having these problems as i type this. i hit the 'a' key a second ago so i had to hit the 'l' key.

I have to do the same types of things, except it's a little different for me...it used to be I had to have everything even, like when I was little i had to touch things twice. Now I always have to push the middle of my palm with one of my fingers ever few seconds, especially when I type. Basically I just have to hit and touch some things a certain way. Ugh, sometimes I even count the amount of steps I take and I had to take a certain amount or when I walk it has to end on the white tile, not the other ones, before I walk into another room. I also have to make this noise in my throat that's starting to drive everyone crazy. I just pretend I'm coughing, but I'm really not. And I HAVE to do it or I'll just feel weird.

My doctor said something about it, since my dad's always been a perfectionist and I'm pretty much the same way, and she says that happens to people alot like that.

So basically I know how ya feel and I'm in pretty much the same situation.

Sarah, you should see a psychiatrist. They will give you medication to help you out. You can try to kick it yourself by resisting the strong desire to make things even and have both fingers touching stuff and always clicking the mouse. But, let me tell you, trying to get over those obsessive compulsive habits on your own is a bitch. That is why you should definitely see a doctor.

Yeah that's like me. I do the whole balance thing too. If I do something to one side of my body, I have to do it to the other. When I walk down the sidewalk, I take exactly 2 steps in each square and don't step on the cracks. I have to stop the microwave one second before it beeps. We have like 4 different styles of silverware and absoloutely can not use thie one certain kind. Yeah I don't know.

yep, that's me. I think I mildly have it. If I spray one side of my hair with hairspray, I must spray the other one, even if it doesn't even need it. I'm like that on everything.
