Default Naomi wore a wig?

in the photos section, there is a picture labelled "Naomi's wig." I didn't know she wore a wig. Why would she have to wear a wig?!

That would be me who posted it.

What I am thinking is Dorothy most likely had short hair during the time she was on MF. I didn't think it was a wig, either, since Dorothy's hair matches her wig VERY closely in real life. If Dorothy had had long hair, it would have been pretty hard to style it exactly the way Naomi always had her hair on the show.

Again...Just a guess.

Dorothy has very fine, thin hair. I didn't realize she wore wigs even back in the NBC years until my sister pointed it out (girls are better at that than boys, lol). She can tell where her real hair is under some of the earlier wigs, whereas I think the horrible syndicated wigs covered it all up.

Wait... Did she ever have her normal hair on the show? Its so unnatural for them to make her wear wigs. Its not like her hair was important to her character, like say Peg Bundy who Katey Segal had to wear a wig for.

Yep...I think she had ponytail extensions in the NBC years, because I noticed in one episode that Naomi's ponytail is almost falling off...It was like that in a few others too.

No, she always had wigs on. I think it was important to her character as Naomi flaunted every feminine attribute she had, and "big, sexy hair" was definitely somethin' she tried for (just look at the several different styles she had in the NBC years).

If they'd gone with her natural shorter, fine, thin hair, it just wouldn't've been the same; not as "floozyish", lol.

I wonder if that was her normal hair in the scene where she takes Iola's place in "I Do, I Don't."

No that is a wig! Here is a pic of Dorothy with her real hair! It is very thin and fine.

Here is a recent pic of Dorothy that I found. Definitely not our "Naomi".! As you can see she absolutely had to wear wigs to get the sexy Naomi look!

Aw, there's that Naomi smile!

Hmm, that brings up another question....In almost every guest star role I saw her in after MF, she wore glasses...Makes me wonder if she didn't have to wear glasses back when she was on MF or if she wore contacts?

Have you guys checked out the Ebay auction of Naomi's black taffeta dress? The link is on top of this page "Mama's Family Worn Dress Must See". Here is a shot from a scene where she is wearing the dress in the episode about Mama's funeral dream.

I'd love to have it too! But it's $159, money I don't have.

I'd love one of Mama's dresses, though. Preferably her pink dress she always wears.

Well, on her "Hope & Gloria" appearance, she didn't wear glasses.

She didn't on the MF reunion special of "Vicki!", either---actually, I've never seen her wear glasses!
