Beatles Hit America Forty Years Ago - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I am a huge Beatles fan and am looking for some Beatlesmaniacs!! Started liking them in 1989 when I was 14 and really got into them in 1992!! It will be forty years since they set foot in America and definately what the country needed when JFK was assainated, the music industry wasn't the same when the first rock and roll tragedy aka The Day The Music Died when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and JP aka The Big Bopper Richardson were killed in Iowa on February 3rd 1959 which today marks the forty-fifth anniversary. And so-called "fake teen-idols" dominated the music with the exception of Rick Nelson, The Beatles is what the music industry and the world needed. Thanks!!

We need someone to save us from the current mess pop is in! And by the way, why do I have a queasy feeling about the Beatles tribute planned for the Grammys on Sunday? Why do I think it's going to suck?

Maybe because Sting is involved in it?

I have that same feeling. I hope that the musicians aren't going to sing Beatles tunes. It would be an insult, not an honor. Could u imagine Spears or someone else doing a cover of In My Life or Revolution?

40 years WOW!

I love the Beatles. Their music is timeless. People will still be listening to them 100 years from now.

At least I hope so.

I think so too. I think they will be around forever. It's amazing the impact they've had on pop culture. I think American needed the Beatles. After the assassination of President Kennedy, the American people needed someone to bring hope back to them.

Today I'm going up to Boeing Field in Seattle to see a re-enactment of the Beatles coming to America!!!

If they do sing Beatles songs I wouldn't be surprised if they make some crappy modern version.I don't care if the tribute is singing their songs, but they have to do it Beatles style gfor a good tribute.

Was today the date they came 40 years ago?

The Beatles will probably be rememebered forever.Them and Elvis are one of the only ones who probably be.

The Fab Four............ I remember them well.

I saw them as a kid on the Ed Sullivan Show. I cannot believe that 40 years has passed. It has passed so quickly.

I heard so many of the Beatle tunes today on the radio I was just smiling.........

The later sixties until their very, very, bitter 1970 breakup were songs of peace and harmony
Loved "The Long & Winding Road, Something, Here Comes The Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, In This Universe, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, The White Album!!"
Like the later years but also like the mop-top years!!

I love the Beatles, too! I might have seen them that night on the Ed Sullivan show, but I don't remember - I was only 2 1/2 weeks old! (I'm sure my family watched it, though.)

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents.
