Default Anybody Ever Gotten A Grant Before To Go To School?

I'm trying to go to broadcasting school & i wanna know how can i get a grant cause i don't wanna sign up for financial aid cause i don't feel like paying the school back their money once my classes are over. Ain't no guarantee that i'm gonna get a radio dj job once classes are over & i ain't letting no school get rich off of me. I feel like education should be free. U shouldn't have to pay money to go to school. Everybody can't afford to go to school especially if u don't get a scholarship or a grant.

if it weren't for grants I wouldnt' be in school... you have to have a pretty low income , i'm not sure of the cutt off, and they also very from state to state, plus, I think a lot of it has to do w/ whether you go to a public or private school. you need to go talk to a finacnial aid advisor, they will help you.

I'm going to USC on several grants and scholarships that I don't have to pay back. For more information on scholarships, and other forms of financial aid go to, www.fastweb.com

I would love to go back to school and major in journalism and broadcasting and be more of a behind the scenes person and let the others take to credit, praises, & glory and make them look good!!

My father is so negative towards anything i wanna do. When i told him i wanted to go to broadcasting school to be a radio dj, he started telling me all this negative stuff about the broadcasting industry is cutthroat & people have big egos in that field. He told me i'm not politically shrewd enough to handle that for a career. I don't care what he says. I'm going to broadcasting school once i find out how i can get a grant cause i don't wanna get financial aid. If i got financial aid, it would take me forever to pay that money back. Plus i read somewhere that radio dj's don't make that much money starting out which isn't a good thing to hear. If people always listened to their parents & other people about the type of careers they should have, people would never follow their dreams. I'm sure people laughed at Muggsy Bouges, Spud Webb, Earl Boykins when they said they wanted to play in the NBA but they didn't listen & look at what they accomplished. Spud Webb was the first short NBA player to win a slam dunk contest at all star weekend in Dallas in 86.

My parents told me a bunch of negative stuff too when I told them I wanted a career in art. They told me I would never make any money and those kinds of jobs were hard to find and being a woman would make it even harder for me blah blah blah.............
I don't make a lot of money right now but it is enough to support myself without having to depend on other people and I really do enjoy it and am glad I'm doing what I want instead of becoming a secretary like my mother wanted. You go and pursue the career you want and don't listen to anyone else. You might end up regretting it later if you don't do what you like.
Anyway I never qualified for any grants even though my mom was in the low income bracket. I paid for everything myself which is why it took me 7 years to get through college.

Don't you have to major in communications or broadcast journalism to be a radio DJ?... My major is broadcast journalism.

No you don't...nowadays they have specialized schools just for broadcasting. Program directors and producers like myself, look more for a knockout demo tape. Sure, degrees will get you in the door alot quicker, but all the degress in the world can't beat a great demo tape.

You book time in a studio and do a mock radio show. It should be like 2 minutes long. Do intro and outros to songs. They want to hear your voice and how you present things. Depending on what radio station you want to work for and send a demo tape to, listen to that station and listen to how their Dj's do a show and just try to copy that format.

CU, but it works both ways. CU Boulder is what most people call it (Since we have three CU campuses in CO).
