Why did Laura and Steve get married? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I can't remember when I stopped watching the show. I loved it so much and I never missed an episode the first 7 years but then I just stopped watching it for some reason.

Somebody mentioned the other day that Laura and Steve got married in the last episode. What happened? Why on earth did that happen? Laura found him obnoxious, annoying but still somewhat of a friend for so many years. I caught one rerun not too long ago where at the end of the episode, Laura kisses Steve (not Stefan, STEVE!) big time. Maxine and Waldo see them and are stunned. And Steve is especially stunned.

So what happened? The writers all of the sudden just made Laura fall for him? Weird.

I missed the show quite a bit over the last two seasons. But when I heard that Jo Mary Payton (Harriot) left and a new fake Harriot was brought in to replace her, I refused to ever watch the show again. That's why I don't know what happened.

They did NOT get married. They got engaged, both Steve and Stefan proposed in the next to last episode, She accepted Steve's proposal, then in the 2-part finale, he went into space, got trapped, but got back ok, and then that was the end. They were supposed to get married in the next season, but CBS cancelled the series. Steve had broke up with Myra BTW about halfway through the 9th season, which opened him up for Laura.

Did Steve ever go with Myra? It seems like Myra went with Steve like Nikki Parker goes with the Professor.
