I've been wondering recently why there was never any "maturing" themes in Full House! I mean, take a look at Who's the Boss?, The Cosby Show, The Hughleys, 7th Heaven, Lizzie McGuire, and Roseanne. They've had episodes dealing with maturation over the girls' first bras and first periods. I mean, Who's the Boss? had the character Sam who didn't have a mother who needed a bra, but Angela and Mona helped her through it through her father, Tony. I've always dreamed about an episode dealing Becky helping D.J. with her first bra or her first period. I could've seen a potential episode about it.

Yeah, they could have done something like that on "Full House." I know it's a clean, family show. But still it deals with real-life situations.

FH was a comedy and a little drama. Pams dead was often a subject in the earlier seasons. Maybe they stuck with that, a focus on missing (they often had missing as a subject). Maybe a story about brah, periode etc. etc. was not importent then. Blossom, had a episode (the second episode after the pilot I guess) about her periode. Step By Step have that as a subject but my guess is: FH (and Blossom) was more drama and Step By Step and cause of that they left periode and brah out cause that wasen´t neccesery. In SBS, that was neccesary cuz they had to, a little drama. Blossom & FH was more drama, they could left out episodes about the girls periode but a serie who only focus on laught, they had to.
FH: Very much comedy, pretty much drama Blossom: Very much comedy, not a lots of drama but they have, abusing and alcoholic dealing. (and her periode) Step By Step: Almost only comedy, very little drama episodes. |

By the time Becky came on the show and became a member of the family, DJ was 14 and would have experienced those things.
I'm sure when it happened to Steph, she could have talked to DJ (in private, and we didn't need to hear that conversation). I watch this show with my teenage son...kind of embarrassing for both of us to hear females talking about their 'time of the month'! |
