Default Season 2 DVD flaw?

I found a problem on my DVD with the episode "I'll Be Seeing You (Part 1)" on my copy of the Season 2 DVD. After the opening credits roll, Sam walks into the bar and says, "Hey, everybody. Sorry I'm late." Diane asks, "Where have you been?" Same says, "Well, I had to run a few errands... Oh! A funny thing happened to me this afternoon.. I was on my way to Boston magazine to be interviewed as one of the 20 most eligible bachelors in the city when I saw this man walking a dog...<etc>.

At the point where he says "..Boston magazine to be interviewed as one of the 20 most eligible bachelors in the city when I saw this man walking a dog," The picture on my DVD speeds up to where he's saying those words rather quickly, and it looks like the picture is slightly stuttering (similar to fast forwarding on a DVD). The picture returns to normal after those words.

Does anyone else's DVD have this problem?

Oo. I think I know what you're talking about. It's supposed to be like that... he starts talking fast so that maybe Diane would miss the "20 Most Eligable Bachelors" or something along those lines, and not be angry at him. I think that's it atleast....

Yeah, it's like that on my copy, too. I'm sure it's a DVD authoring glitch.

Default Yep it's a flaw

I noticed this too, but it is more than just a section of stuttery playback. This section lasting a few seconds has not been digitally remastered, it is fuzzy and not as sharp as the rest of the DVD. It looks the same as the out-takes for example, which also were not remastered for DVD.

It's not meant to be like that, if you watch it you can see the the playback stutters like it would if there were dirt on the disc.

Perhaps the original footage got damaged, and prevented it from being properly remastered.

its really interesting that this is like this. i never noticed it myself tho...

the weird part about it is, this very scene is NOT the same from unremastered versions(Paramount home videos and syndication), and then on N@N. ive only noticed it on these 3, im not sure about other airings (NBC, remastered syndication, etc.)

i forget which is which, but in one version, the shot of sam coming in the door is very close up, shot from behind the bar. the other is further away, i think shot from beside the bar. just thought it was weird it was the same scene
