!952/53/54 Episodes - Are they available? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I'm searching for a copy of an early O&H episode (aprox '52-55) in which David first made contact with the 1940 Mercury Coupe that is seen later in such episodes as the "sandwiches & potato salad in the trunk" episode. In the episode I'm looking for, I remember the car in his back yard, and remember him wanting to buy it. My memory may be a bit fuzzy here. Are all the early episodes still in a can somewhere, or have some been destroyed? Any hints regarding how I might get a copy of this one? Thanks

It would be a great start to just Identify the season, and episode number and title of David's first experience with his 1940 Mercury Coupe. Hope someone can help. Thanks again

http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionC...AndHarriet.htm has good descriptions of the episodes and which ones were syndicated. Also, TVTome has an episode list that is pretty good. Start there, and I don't think any episodes have been destroyed. Sony is supposed to come out with re-mastered DVDs of O&H by 2005 (?). Dave was about 16 in 1952, so it was likely to have been in one of the first seasons that he got interested in cars.

Hi Flathead,

The first episode with the '40 Merc that I remember was "A Matter of Inches" (season three). This probably isn't the one you're looking for . The story line is that Ozzie tries to reneg on an old promise to give David $50.00 when David became as tall as Ozzie. David plans to spend the money to have his Mercury painted heliotrope, and there is a scene with the Mercury on the driveway near the garage, which adjoins the back yard.

Thank you tjm, I have a partial copy of the "matter of inches" episode which includes David's '40 Mercury. My partial copy starts with him polishing the hood (only the hood top shot) of the car and explaining that he wants to repaint it Heliotrope. Is there more footage of the car other than the hood area in this episode?

Hi Flathead, As I recall, that was the only scene with the car in this episode. I remember the louvered hood and thinking his car really didn't need a paint job.
