Default Some Old Time Favorites

I have been watching Unsolved for the longest times and some of the spookest ones I recall watching are:

1. The haunted bunk bed one......that was just the scariest haunting one I can remember.

2. The one where the girl got hit in the head in CA by a wood board while she was on the back of her boyfriends motorcycle. She was brain damaged and her family thought it had to do with her boyfriend and not her.

3. The one where the boys are sitting in the dugout drinking beer and guys in masks come up to them and shoot and kill one of them.

4. THe Orange Sock murders of the two girls in Oregon. The fact that the crazy man shot them while they were trying to run away. I actually red a book on the guy they think did it - Thomas Luther - and he raped a girl who got away but i was cringing when i was reading the story.

5. One i just saw recently of the woman i believe in Mass or NH who was working at a card shop and disappeared. She was a teacher i believe and they found her dead a few days later.

6. The one where the guy (i believe they thought he was a serial killer) killed those shop girls in the bridal boutique in the back room. Some man had come in while the crime was being committed.

7. The other one just like that at a fast food joint where a man came in a shot everyone.

8. One that made me not sleep was the one in Vancouver of that couple being shot at the rest stop. That guy was SOOOOOOO spooky looking (but i heard they caught him)

9, The girl in Pennsylvania home for college who car broke down and she disappered. They found her body a few days later (Anyone recall her name).

10. And my last one i ***uely remember is the one where the guy is about to go into a store (or actually does) and he runs into a man who just killed someone running out (not the beauty shop one though). I think it was like a convience store.

I could sit here all day but i'll go back to work

Default Haunted Bunk Bed Story

The story of the haunted bunk bed creeped me out, as well as that entire Halloween 1988 episode, when I saw it at the age of 8! It included stories of Queen Mary ship hauntings, an elderly couple in Georgia being terrorized by ghosts and the hauntings of The General Wayne Inn in Pennsylvania. That rerun has come up at least once a year in 2000, 2002 and 2003, as I've seen. That episode was an example of excellent television in progress, as it's incredible that network television can create such feelings of fear!

I am not spooked, but offended, by a mystery that came up recently on UM reruns. It was the story of a guy named "Bell" (I think that's the name) who, after exposing himself to children, brutally murdered a young man in front of his mother when the guy confronted "Bell." "Bell" later went on to break into another house, but was scared off by a savvy woman. Fortunately, it's been reported he was captured and sent to jail. That episode showed such brutality that it never ceases to offend me, not so much in a scared sense, but in the brutality of the crime.

Yes, I agree that murder was so despicable!! That has to be every mother's worst nightmare to be watching out the window and see your child be murdered! Not to mention what a hero the victim was, and could very much, with his actions, have prevented a child being molested on that day.

That was in Colorado actually.

I remember that too. Small town in Massachusetts I believe.

Famous I-70 killer. Yup.

That actually happened near Blind River, Ontario. And they caught a guy for another crime and think that he did this one as well, but haven't charged him for it as far as I know. (I think he did it though)

I have never seen the haunted bunk beds story! Or at least I don't remember it. I feel deprived since everyone else has.

I was glad to see that Bell has been caught. That's another one I hadn't seen since it first broadcast. I have to say that I've always thought that was the best Unsolved re-enactment they've ever done. They did a really good job.

Oh my god I remember that one with Bell....the guy was actually played by Matthew McConhey (sorry about the spelling).

The one with the girl from Pennsylvania was she was home from college and was out drinking with friends (she was the DD) and she left to go home. Apparently someone pretending to be a cop stopped her (a passing car saw this) and she never made it home. Her body was found in a desert lot a few days later..she was raped adn killed. But i don't recall her name.

As for the last one i don't recall too much about it but i just remember that witness walking in while the guy was running out....it was so spooky because UM had that music in the background (you know the one they play when its a pivotal point in the story). The Zodiac Killer one was spooky too....

That episode totally freaked me out. One of the first episodes of UM I saw on Lifetime featured that case. I recently had seen it again(it had been many years since I first saw it) and it totally scares me still.

I know just what you mean. This is one of the few episodes that I have a hard time watching. I'll never forget this--the first time I saw it, I was just shaking. This was a truly horrific crime.

one episode that always gets me is the Charles Holden/hitchhiker case...

also, one about some cat named Kurt, who dissapeared after a party, I seen that one when I was about 8 years old, and still remember it to this day..

And the one where the guy rides his bike and damn near gets kiled by the trucker...on purpose!

Question

Refresh my memory - which is the Charlie Holden Case. And what is the cat case???

Also, one of the meanest ones I ever remember is the bank president one where they dumped him into the water, weighted down by a brick while he was still alive! Just to get the banks money. I heard they caught those guys though.

The "cat" they referred to is Kurt Sova, a very interesting case. He disappeared after a party and was found dead (not far from where the party was) 5 days later. What is most interesting is they couldn't figure out his cause of death (not enough alcohol in his system to kill him, no drugs or sign of trauma) and the coroner said he had only been dead 2-3 days which meant the first 2 days he was missing he was still alive.

About your #4 - That case has to be the scariest one they have ever shown on UM. The double murder took place in Breckenridge, Colorado in Januray 1982. Both women had vanished within hours of each other, both had been hitchhiking home, both had been driven 15-20 miles away from town into the spooky woods on a bitterly cold night, both had been shot in the back as they tried to flee from their attacker and both women's bodies were found with an orange sock.

I know this crime took place in a small town where everyone knowns each other, but it's still the perfect example of how dangerous hitchhiking can be and how we should never take part in it. There are just too many crazy people in this world and you never know which strangers you can trust.

I read the book about Thomas Luther as well and there is no doubt in my mind that he was responsible for the murders of these two women, Bobbie and Annette. He didn't work the day of and the day after the killings. Not to mention he also attacked, raped and almost killed another attractive woman who was hitchhiking home out in the woods less than a month after Bobbie and Annette's murders. It's too much of a coincidence for him NOT to be the killer. He also bragged to inmates in prison that he had killed two women on the same night but would never be charged. His name was never mentioned in the Unsolved Mysteries segment, but calls to the telecenter all involved suspisions of Luther.

This scum bag is currently in jail on a life sentence for a murder he committed in 1995, but he was never charged with the murders of Bobbie and Annette. There will never be conclusive evidence to charge him because both women were taken out in the middle of nowhere and murdered. The chances of a witness passing by the murder sites were slim to none. hat's too bad because he is the obvious suspect. At least he is spending the rest of his miserable life in jail, but the families of both women deserve justice.

the Charles Holden is about him giving a hitchhiker a ride...when he told the hitchhiker he was as far as he could take him, the hitchhiker flipped on him, pulled a knife out and told him he was going to kill him...Charles ran out the car to a nearby store, but it was closed...he then told the hiker that he'd take him abywhere he wanted, ran to his truck, and left the idiot hiker behind...

he decided to drive a while the opposite direction of his home, as a safety precaution...on his way back however, in a wierd coincidence, the hiker was walking through his yard! Charle's mother stayed right behind him, so Charles went to get a cop....when they returned, they discovered his mother had been stabbed to death...
