She's lost it, IMHO. American Life is such a terrible album, I've listened to it once and only keep it because it's part of my Madonna collection. Music was a good album apart from her shockingly horrible remake of American Pie. But she's nowhere near as good as she used to be, resorting to cheap stunts like appearing in Britney's video.
The only thing I like that Madonna's done recently are the children's books she wrote. The English Roses was lovely, she's not the best storyteller but it's very cute. I used to be such a big fan of hers. I ADORE her early stuff. She was awesome until Ray of Light, then she started losing it a tiny bit with the American Pie cover and when American Life album came out I thought, what the hell? I think my favourite Madonna era will always be from the 80s. With songs like "Borderline", "Like A Virgin", "Into The Groove", "Like A Prayer", etc she was wonderful. But sadly, she's totally lost it now, and I don't eagerly awaite new stuff from her like I used to. I think I'll always been a fan of her, but still I think maybe she should retire. |

American Life was alright, but I kinda agree with you.
However, I do think Madonna will pull herself out of her slump, I have faith in her. |

Oh don't get me wrong I hope she will too. I just feel that if she keeps going the way she is, she'll just get worse and worse.

I like all Madonna that was Ray of Light and before. Her latest album isn't like her at all. I think it's horrible.

I do think the singles choices have been awful. American Life was a good song, but it was poor timing, and Hollywood was the worst song off the album, yet it was the crucial second single. Nothing Fails and Love Profusion have come out since (NF in the US and LP in the UK) but the album is just too dead now to revive. |

I've always admired her. But I think time is her enemy. I don't think she's going to be as willing to ''shock'' people anymore. I think the next logical step for her is a more ''mature'' Madonna. Someone that can connect to the people who grew up in her age bracket. I seriously doubt she can really relate to you young whipper snappers anymore.

Yeah I really miss the "shocking" Madonna. I love the era of Justify My Love, Erotica, the Sex book etc...she was so wild back then.
I guess having children has tamed her quite a bit. |
