Thumbs down Christina Aguilera Is Not So Original

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For all the slack Britney Spears gets for supposedly copying Christina Aguilera, I'd just like to say your goddess of originality is probably the worst of them all. Let's take the biggest culprit of evidence. "Stripped" was a good album and fun to listen to but almost every song is like a rip off of another one.

"Fighter" is like "Survivor" from Destiny's Child or "Black cat" from Janet Jackson. "Infatuation" is the tired and inevitable Latin lover song that everyone has overdone. "Loving me for me" sounds like Mariah Carey's "Underneath the stars" and Jill Scott "He loves me". "Impossible" sounds like Aretha Franklin. "Beautiful" is Elton John or TLC's "Unpretty". "Make Over", uh Sugababes. "Dirrty" is Redman's song "Lets get dirty". "A voice within", Jesus another take off of Mariah Carey, anyone remember "Hero"?

And throughout the whole CD, all I heard was Mariah Mariah Mariah. I still like "Stripped" but next time you want to make a comment on how everyone copies Christina, just remember she's not the most original girl in it. Her whole new sound is just combining what"s already out there or been done already. I think her next album should be better or more copied stuff.

Who the hell cares? Seriously...A LOT of artists sound alike. Thats why they're put into genres...so they're easier to find in a music store. Its not like Mariah has never copied anyone in her life. Mariah isnt God...shes just a regular person like you and me. Its annoying how much you exhalt her.... So Christina "copies" off of Mariah and Britney "copies" off of Christina. Its been the same story since Christina and Britney came out. Its old.

Yes but you act like shes the only person thats worthy of having a damn record deal. And you go off on anyone who thinks any different. I used to be like that with certain celebrities and then I realised how stupid I was being. Obsession is one thing but you take it to the next level. Not everyone likes Mariah. Not everyone cares about your little site. Not everyone thinks she's great like you do. Frankly, I'm tired of the whole "Let's exhalt Mariah in every post becuase shes the greatest person ever." Obsession is like a sickness. Just cool off a bit, thats all.

I agree. Once upon a time when I was younger, I used to be the same way with Madonna as MonarC is with Mariah. However, I realized it was stupid to waste so much energy praising one artist that you think is better than the others.... there are literally a million artists who've had recording contracts at one point or another. You'll discover there are a LOT of great artists out there if you only opened your mind and stopped comparing everyone to Mariah Carey.

There's a difference with being a fan ("Mariah has a great voice, I love her music") and being obsessed ("Glitter is the greatest motion picture ever!!!" -- even most Mariah fans will admit it's not). Learn to find the difference. Unless you're related to an artist, there's no reason to be so obsessed with just one artist and not give others a chance, because it's not like they know you even exist.

I read that on Popdirt last Monday, and it was a load of crap. Nowadays everyone sounds like each other, and Christina and Mariah are no exception. It's not as if Mariah is so original herself. People always tend to criticize whenever they fell threatened.

Popdirt isn't to be taken serious, its like an amateur gossip tabloid. Anyone can post something.. it's like a message board. I wouldn't doubt you posted that "MusicMan."

I liked her Stripped album. I think that you can tell who her influences are. She wrote all of her songs.

Well, everyone has to be different!

It's not cool to be copying someone, even though everyone does it, in one way or another. No one is 100% completely original.

I like most of Christina's songs (Beautiful is my favourite) but as a person she really annoys the hell out of me. Not quite sure why.
