Wink I'd Hate To See This Family Tree...

I'm not making this up.

SALT LAKE - A member of Utah's polygamous Kingston clan was sentenced yesterday to a year behind bars for taking his fourth wife, a 15-year-old cousin, who is also his aunt.

Okay, if anyone can figure out how she can be his cousin and and his aunt, I'd really like an explanation.

Flow charts people! I want to see flow charts!

Why did the song, "I'm My Own Grandpa" suddenly come into my head?

TJL, I'm ashamed that a man of your intelligence can't figure out how a person can be both your cousin and your aunt at the same time. Tsk, tsk, tsk...

I can explain, for I have a cousin who is also an aunt, and no, we're not rednecks who marry each other to keep the blood line preserved. You see, my dad has a sister who's 10 years older than her (And a brother who's 20 years older), so naturally her kids are all older than me. One of them is my cousin who's 15 years older than me. Well, my dad married my mom (obviously) and my mom had a brother (my uncle) who was a bachelor and still hadn't got married, and he was 30. Well, my mom was looking to get him married (as was the rest of the family), and so she noticed my dad's neice was still single (at age 20) and so they set them up to get married. So technically, from my dad's side she's my cousin, but from my mom's side, she's my aunt. And my uncle and my cousin aren't related to each other at all by blood, so it's all good.

What's my prize?

Ah, but remember, this is his cousin, his aunt, and his wife. Presumably, she was unmarried before she became her husband's fourth wife

So let's see, if his mother's sister had a child named A, that would be his cousin. If A's father was his dad's dad, then it would be his aunt. I think. And then she would still be single. I don't know, I have a very small family
