Default I HATE Peter Jennings

This guy really gets on my last nerve. Interrupting 8 Simples Rules and I'm with Her to report on the primaries, geesh that could have waited till the evening News. I knew I hated this man for a reason, he also does it during soaps, I swear I think this man hates all forms of entertainment but news!

You must hate Tom Brokaw, too, Topanga. My mother was watching "Whoopi" on NBC, and Brokaw interrupted that show to give the vote count from New Hampshire, too. It's no big deal, we didn't miss anything. Had ABC not rejoined their regular programming at the point which it was interrupted and skipped a line of dialogue or two, that would have sucked!

Tom Brokaw's not as bad as P.J. is P.J. I absolutely loathe for lots of reasons, mostly because he has no respect for television viewers at all.

I still hated missing even a few minutes, that's when all the best stuff happens

The thing I don't get is, they know the primaries are happening. it isn't breaking news! Can't they figure out a better way to break in to a show? I realize they won't do it on a commercial break ($$$), but there has to be a way.

Default Geez! kill the messenger!

It's not his fault that the network chose to cut into the programs. They all did, and always do for election or important news. I hate it when the local station interrupts my programs with local breaking news that could wait until the regular news times. There are ALWAYS stabbbings, high speed chases etc in big cities. SO WHAT!!! Meaning only as far as any of us can do anything about them, so just wait until the details are clear to tell us.

Default Beat it!

This is an internet message board! Take your rational thought and well-expressed opinion back to the real world where it belongs.

Actually I beg to differ. P.J. once bragged about having a little button that he can push to interrupt shows on HIS whim. It's up to him to interrupt with what HE considers "breaking news"

That happened here in Oregon. It was only a local thing, though, so other areas wouldn't have been effected. A few weeks ago, when "The Heartbreak Kid" was aired, the Portland area was experiencing the biggest snow storm it had in years. All channels were having constant coverage for a few days, but allowed for regular programming in the evening.

Before each show began, though, the weather man on our ABC affiliate would break in for a moment of updates. He wasn't on for very long, and they didn't seem to preempt "According to Jim" at all, so I was hoping they would treat "I'm with Her" the same way. No such luck. The weather update faded out, and "I'm with Her" was joined in progress. The opening theme had been cut, as well as some of the beginning dialog. It came in while Patrick was under the sink, "making the leak bigger so the plumber can find it." Alex was just asking him how much he liked his "Teachers Do It with Class" shirt. Probably didn't miss too much, but still!

As for the talk of Peter Jennings, I will say that he used to be my favorite of the Big Three. Tom Brokaw is okay, though he can't enunciate an entire sentence with Jennings style clarity to save his life (no offense, Tom). I've never thought much of Dan Rather. I don't respect Peter so much anymore now, but my reasons are more controversial than some might care for on a board like this. Faster might tell me to take my "rational thought and well-expressed opinion back to the real world where it belongs."

Next week: "I'm with Her" series premiere rebroadcast!! As much as I love this show now, I can't wait to see how it all began!!

These little interruptions are so freaking annoying Most of the time they're not even necessary, I don't why ABC can't do what CBS does, they have a little box at the bottom of the screen with the updates.

And I don't mind weather updates unless it's every 15 minutes when they constantly interrupt to say the same things they did the first 50 times

If everything said here about Jennings is true, we'd better get used to it. "I'm With Her" is on Tuesdays, and so are presidential primaries - seven of them next week, with the important South Carolina primary on the East Coast - meaning, its results will start to come in after 8 ET!

Think ABC will rejoin a rerun at the point which it was interrupted?

I doubt it unless they do to primetime what they do to Soaps, they won't. They do pick up where the episode left off if they finish in time, if not, we miss it, until it repeats again. They've done that to me when I've watched soaps, and they will not show them later that evening or in the early morning hours, it's up to the individual ABC networks if they choose to rerun that episode the same day or later that week.

That's why I hate Peter Jennings, he loves to hear himself talk
