Becker is a legend considering it has run longer than most comedies today. It deserved a 1 to 2 hour finale on CBS and not a little 30 minute Series Finale in January that does not get any advertising or any exposure.
Becker debuted in November 1998. The comedies that have been on longer than Becker that are currently still going are: Friends (September 1994) Frasier (September 1993) Everybody Loves Raymond (September 1996) King of Queens (debuted 2 months earlier in September 1998) Will and Grace (debuted 2 months earlier in September 1998) That 70s Show (debuted 3 months earlier in August 1998) |

Don't forget, Becker is getting the treatment that Just Shoot Me was given last season with NBC.And though JSM! was on for 7 years, being that they had lots of bump ins from the bumping of the 8/7 PM slot of Tuesdays and being put on hold until the summer, it really ran it's own course. They burned off almost 9 episodes last summer for the way NBC treated it! Becker on the other hand is a victim of CBS greed! they only wanted 13 episodes and since they are going away silent like JSM!, it's like ending on a bittersour note. Don't forget two other comedies that are still going on albeing it's animated:
Simpsons (debuted December 1989) King of the Hill (debuted January 1997) |

I am ready to let the show go, but like I've said before I think this show deserved to finish out the 6th season and work it's way into a more worthy series finale, and not one just thrown together in mid season without any buildup in the storylines.
Yes, I know that the show was likely to be pulled at midseason, but would it have killed CBS to keep it on thru May 2004? I think not. Hey, maybe it will be a decent sendoff, but the cast/fans deserved a May sendoff and not one in January. CBS has shown NO advertising at all to my knowledge, in the past week or month, and the TV guide snapshot was of Linda's new boyfriend and not Ted Danson. |

Any show that makes it past four seasons deserves a finale episode. They should be allowed to wrap things up.
It's a shame how some recent long running shows have been treated by the networks. |

I swear to God, it's cruel what they do.
I can't believe Becker is the seventh longest running TV show still on the air! |

It was sweet, and I wished it would have been longer.

I thought it deserved at least an hour-long finale too.

I just hope King of Queens does not get a huge finale if it ends in the next year or so, because Becker is way Better.
