Default Roper Vs. Furley

who do you guys think was the better landlord?

mr and mrs roper? or Ralph Furley?

i would say mr furley because when he was around he made the show funnier. He acted with his body not only by words.

Roper was crabby all the time.

Furley showed many different emotions and his expressions were priceless!

couldnt of said it better VegasGirl. Who has seen that thing on N@N called Roper Vs. Furley...its so funny.

Roper was also very cranky all the time and Helen's jokes about sex became old after a while. It was like you knew it was coming. With Furley you weren't sure what to expect.

That's tough. I personally think that, overall, the Ropers were better.

I loved the verbal sparring between Helen and Stanley in the first three seasons. A lot of their conversations were priceless. While I know some found that they became stale after awhile, I didn't think they did. I also think that the original cast (Jack/Janet/Chrissy/Stanley/Helen) had the most chemistry. Audra Lindley and Norman Fell were very gifted actors.

Don Knotts' Ralph Furley was also funny, but in a different way. While the Ropers had a lot of verbal humor, while he did more physical humor. I didn't like him in the fourth season (he seemed a bit more 'Roper'ish and more mean), but I did like him in the remaining seasons. I like him almost as much as the Ropers, but they win out since seasons 1-3 were among my favorites.

Mr. Furley for sure. He always cracked me up with his facial expressions and outrageous clothes!

That's tough.. I really loved the Ropers, but if I really think, I just love Furley more.. he just makes me crack up more than the Ropers did... I dunno..

Tough choice. If they had to replace the Ropers, I think Don Knotts was a great choice. As it turns out, The Ropers show didn't last.

Personally, I think the funniest comedy is when people are being nasty and critical of each other (Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, All in The Family), so I would choose the Ropers. Don Knotts is one of my favorite comedy actors though. Furley's swollen ego, thinking he was a ladies man was laways very funny.

MR. FURLEY .......He cracks me up with those big buggy eyes. I agree that the original 5 (jack, chrissy, janet, stanley, and helen)had a wonderful chemistry, but I think Joyce, John, and Don were great together. I actually thought they were funnier together than the original 5.

I agree with that. When he first came on the show, almost every episode was about him wanting to throw the kids out of the apartment. He did seem nicer later on. In fact, there was even one episode where the gang was going to buy a new apartment and he wanted to convince them to stay.

Overall, I liked Furley better than the Ropers.

Furley probably wanted to lay down the law and show them who's boss, but then softened up.

Maybe at the time Don Knotts was still thinking of the other character he played, Barney Fife. Lol.
