One reason for me would have to be that I can actually relate to FOL on a more personal level. Being a teenage/college aged girl growing up and the friendships you have. I've never been a kid from Harlem who was adopted by a millionaire. Not saying you HAVE to have something in common with the people in order to enjoy a show, but for me, that makes Facts of Life more enjoyable. I do like both shows, but definitely like FOL better.

The jokes on DS are funny but they keep on telling them over and over in one episode and then again in another. FOL has "real" jokes that don't get old to fast.

I like Jo.

I don't believe DS has a lesson in the end. I like shows with lessons hidden in them like Star Trek.

I don't like what the cast of DS did to their bodies and mind. You sould have more respect for your life.

Thats pretty much it. If I think of any more you can bet I'll be back.

Nat, Toot, Mrs. G, Blair, and Jo can crack me up a lot easier than what the DS characters can. The plots on FOL are so much better. I mean was their ever an episode of FOL where Tootie got stuck on the ledge of a building? NO! Why? Because FOL is actually not like the brady bunch. DS relates to the brady bunch too much for me to really like it.

I like FOL like better than DS, because, how somebody already pointed out, it teaches something, it has a point to it. One actually receives something from the show.

One problem with DS, is the underlying problems with Dana Plato, Todd Bridges ect. Very similiar to Robert Reed and The Brady Bunch. Compare that to FOL alumni like Clooney, Mckeon, Ringwald, Austin, and Fields. Plus the high moral example set by Lisa. FOL girls to the best of my knowledge have never been drug addicts(like Plato or Bridges), nor exeppt for Molly in the film "Malacious" ever did anything objectable. Plus it was more realistic, Gary Coleman was always the same, while the FOL girls( Particularly Kim Fields grew up naturally). There is no comparison FOL better.

I can relate to the girls of FOL and their stories and backgrounds, more so than I can with the people on DS.

FOL had a message in each and every episode, and it makes you think. I like shows like that--with a plotline that is easy and comical to follow, and gets the pont across.

The FOL girls were better actors IMO.

The FOL girls didn't constantly get in trouble with the law. They all had morals and standards set, and followed them as far as I am aware of.

FOL is just a better, more solid show...

Jo: Why would Tootie do something like that?

Blair: WHY? I know why. To make a fool of Blair Warner, that's why.

Jo: You don't need Tootie for that.

Sorry, but I've got to say that DS is absolutely nothing like the Brady Bunch. Not even close, except that they had a housekeeper. But I agree with you about that ep of DS where Arnold got stuck on the ledge being inferior- that is one of my least favorite eps of DS.

Now- about comparing the 2 shows....darn I was kind of "into" FOL more than DS for a while there, but now I'm back to loving both shows just the same. My username speaks for itself. Hey, I grew up on both shows, so I just don't see much point in comparing the 2. They might be "related" but they are 2 entirely different shows. It's like comparing fruit to vegetables. Why not compare Webster to DS instead of FOL to DS- that makes more sense to me?

Mostly because of what everyone else said because they can relate to the girls more and there is a message to it. Plus I like it better because it's more realistic and to me they are just a lot more interesting to watch than DS.

Wink

I agree with almost everyone here.

I must also add that I have NEVER found Gary Coleman the least bit funny. The actor who portrays Mr Drummond has always gotten on my nerves...dating back to his 'Maude' days.

Tootie: Muffy? Her name is Muffy? What kind of person is named Muffy?

Jo: Beats me, Tootie.
