Default What Other TV Show DVDs do You Have?

This topic has probably been done before too (sorry old timers). I'm curious, besides TDVDS Seasons 1 & 2 (and soon to be 3) what other tv shows do you have on DVD? Here's my list:

Mary Tyler Moore Season 1 (anxiously awaiting for season 2 to be released)

The Honeymooners (Classic 39 and all the Lost Episodes)

I Love Lucy Season 1 (Not really a fan of ILL until their trip to Hollywood, but I'll get the entire series just to have it)

All in the Family Seasons 1 & 2

The Monkees Seasons 1 & 2

Lost in Space Season 1 (Just bought it yesterday and only watched the first episode so far. I haven't seen this show since its original airing)

Green Acres Season 1 (Just ordered it and hasn't arrived yet)

In addition, I'm recording The New Dick Van Dyke Show every week on Goodlife Network and getting tapes of (what I think is) a hilarious Canadian series called Puppets Who Kill. I'll burn both of these to DVD-R and create my own series sets!

Good question. It'll show how varied our tastes are.

My wife has:

first 5 seasons of "Friends" on DVD. (Season 6 is coming out next week.)

S1 of "Law and Order" (S2 being held up by Universal's ownership change).

I have:

MTM S1 (sad to know the idiots at Fox has said this will likely be it because they don't think the sales will be there; of course, if they hadn't overpriced S1..)

Avengers Mega Emma Peel set (complete Diana Rigg, enough said)

Larry Sanders S1 (another case where we've told not to expect more seasons)

Sherlock Holmes (Ronald Howard show from the 50's; selected episodes)

Gilligan's Island S1 (not out yet, but it's mine February 3)

We share:

Sopranos S1 - S4; our favorite show to watch together; absolutely riviting

Wish list for shows not yet announced:

Perry Mason - all time favorite show
Get Smart! - hilarious with great rewatchibility
Adventures of Superman - doesn't get any better than this

None.
I never got around to ordering TMTMS (So I'm one of the people who helped take it out of distribution, sorry.) I've been considering "I Love Lucy," but I'm not crazy about the fact that they only give you 4 episodes per dvd (+ bonuses), and there are 8 or 9 dvds per season. And they're expensive. List price is 15.00/dvd.

You may want to check out the I Love Lucy complete first season box set. If you shop around, you'll be surprised at how good deals can be found; I saw it at Sam's Club for something like $65.

My understanding is that season two will be packaged much more sensibly (similar to the Van Dyke DVDs).

I am not a huge fan of ILL so I didn't pick up the box, but I've heard generally good things about it.

Regarding Mary Tyler Moore, it's still in distribution and is widely available, it's just that no more seasons are coming.

I, of course, have TMTMS season 1. And Fox has changed their mind on future seasons. They now say that if the cost to produce them comes down, they WILL do the other seasons (probably without as many bonuses, so they can sell them cheaper!). And Steve, I'm ashamed of you for not buying Season 1!! j/k

Besides TDVDS Seasons 1 and 2 with season 3 on pre-order, I have the following:

I Love Lucy- Columbia House Collectors edition S 1 and 2 (My kids love these!)

M*A*S*H Seasons 1-5. I will buy the season sets until Radar leaves the show which is, in my opinion, when M*A*S*H jumped the shark.

Hogan's Heroes on VHS, complete set.

Pre-ordered Barney Miller, season 1.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show, season 1. If more season sets come out, I will order those as well.

My wish list:

The Andy Griffith Show
Get Smart- as Charlie Chan mentioned

This is a good topic, it shows how varied our tastes are, even though we all have one show in common, TDVDS. Can't wait for season 3!

I was at my local Sam's Club today and noticed that they've greatly expanded their selection of DVD box sets.

No Dick Van Dyke yet, but they do now have MTM for $29.99 which is waaaay cheaper than the $49.99 that the morons at Fox Home Entertainment put on as a MSRP for this set.

I still maintain that Fox is partially responsible for the poor sales of this set by putting a ridiculous price on it.

By the way, you can add "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Season One to my list of TV on DVD. My better half surprised me with it this weekend. I would not recommend anyone who recently had surgery to watch this show because your stiches will come loose from laughing so hard.

Sorry to be absent so much guys/gals, but I'm in the midst of trying to sell my house.

The Lone Ranger (all they've released thus far)
Planet of the Apes TV show
The Rifleman (2 boxed sets)

Thanks Lolac. I'm not sure that it's a badge of honor to have so many dvds though...

B&W Fan - you've got a wonderful collection there. No wonder you're selling your house; you need a bigger one just to make room for your DVDs!

How are the Abbott and Costello sets? I used to really like their TV show, more so than even their movies. There were only 52 or so episodes if I recall correctly.

Good luck with getting "my" movies on DVD from your friend. I hope the quality is good. I've tried unsucessfully to convince Fox to release them commercially. It seems that the wife of the owner/chairman of Fox won't allow them to be shown or otherwise made available commercially.

B&WFan,
That's quite an impressive list, and many of the shows I've loved over the years.

Thanks Steve and Charlie Chan. I admit to my love for classic (and some not so "classic") tv shows. There are others I'd have in my possession already, but money doesn't grow on trees (does it?) so while I own quite a few of my favorites, there are still some outstanding that have been released but will have to wait (like the Honeymooners, Green Acres, Doctor Who, and Mr. Ed).

Also, I meant to add a few more to my "Wish List".

Like CC, I'd love to have the Adventures of Superman on dvd. And Hogan's Heroes, The Partridge Family, The Cosby Show, Time Tunnel, Big Valley ...

Oh, forget trying to name them all. There isn't enough bandwidth.

CC,

You're correct about the Abbott & Costello Show. It ran only 2 seasons and there were 52 episodes. Right now, with volumes 9 and 10 right around the corner, that will give us 40 episodes total (they are putting 4 episodes on each disk). They will only need 3 more volumes to complete the show, and I expect they will release them before the year is up. They look great, and since I love "the boys" so much (I have all their films as well) it's a must buy for me.

As for the Charlie Chan movies, I too have been very disappointed in Fox's stance on releasing these. Of course you're aware of the debacle last summer when FMC stopped a Chan Marathon in mid-stream because of the "PC Police" that complained Charlie Chan was an unfair characterization of Asian-Americans. Since that time, FOX has hidden their Chans and I really doubt we will see them again any time soon (on tv or dvd).

I have a guy making me copies of all the Fox CC films (24 of them total) and he comes highly recommended. I expect the copies to all be very very good. I should be getting them soon, and when I do I'll let you know how they are. The other CC films from Monogram are not as important to me at this moment, but I will eventually get them on dvd as well.

Take care,
