I would like to see this show on DVD, but I would like the episodes to have the original openings such as the show being called "Valerie" in the Valerie Harper episodes, "Valerie's Family" in the episodes that followed, and then "The Hogan Family" in the episodes where they were officially changed to that name.

I'm sure the episodes would have their original opening credits. They usually do that with TV shows on DVD

If you're serious about trying to get this show on DVD, then the site to go to is: www.tvshowsondvd.com

This site is the primary site that companies and producers use to see which shows fans would be most likely to buy. So far it has helped to bring about DVD sets of Saved by the Bell, Designing Women albeit in a best-of set, and other shows that were thought to never see the light of day. All one has to do is register and then you vote on shows you'd like to see released.

For this show, there are 2 separate listings: Valerie & The Hogan Family. I guess they consider it two different shows, although that doesn't mean the company will if they ever decide to release it.

Who knows what we'd get if this show ever saw release? Outtakes? Cast auditions? Perhaps the original first two season 3 openers, the first being shot without Valerie Harper (her character, Valerie Hogan, was said to be back East visiting her parents) while the second included Valerie before the producers decided to fire her?

Guess we'll never know unless people vote...

About the 2 seperate listings, I was the one who requested that "Valerie" be added to their database, just in case Warner Bros. (I think that's who owns "Valerie/The Hogan Family") treats them as two seperate shows. I wanted to make it clear that the "Valerie" episodes deserve DVD releases as well.

I couldn't agree more. I started watching the show from the beginning and to me, the show was best when it was called Valerie. Not just because of the actress but overall the writing was a lot better and sharper. I felt that when Sandy came on, in order for the show to get away with making light of Valerie Hogan's death, the show turned into a cartoon and became sillier.
It was still entertaining, mind you, but it lost some of its edge, relevance and uniqueness. JMHO...

Yes Yes Yes.

I remeber watching this show in late 80s and I loved it then, and I am watching it again after all those years and still love it. I would certainly want to have that on a DVD, atleast the first 2 seasons when it was Valerie.

Anyone wanting this show on DVD or VHS should go to www.tvshowsondvd.com immediately, and vote for this show to be released. You have to register on the site (big deal folks! don't be lazy!) and then vote for it by following the links on the side.

This site has become very popular with the companies that produce the DVDs. They use the site to see what show is most popular as a way of guaranteeing a sale. So go there and vote for Valerie and The Hogan Family. Both titles are listed in case the company who owns the show considers them to be different shows.

So vote!!!!

I voted "no." It wasn't one of the great sitcoms, but it is better than any current sitcom.
