Default The Saxophone Episode

Did you ever wonder who let the men into the closet? It wasn't Ricky, because he would have known whether they were the men that his friend sent over, and it wasn't Lucy because she didn't know they were in there. Did they just sneak in by themselves? I take this as a sure sign that I have seen I Love Lucy too many times if I am noticing stuff like this.

I used to love Gilligan's Island. I used to run home from Campfire Girls to watch it. I ALWAYS thought they would get off that island. If only someone had told me they were reruns........and that they never got off.............look at the extra time I would have had as a kid.

Maybe they came in through a secret door? I had the same problem noticing stuff like that (I still do) when the ep about the anniversary in the closet is on and Desi throws the wine bottle across the room.

If he really threw it across the room like that or if it was special effects (like someone hiding somewhere and making the noise of glass breaking

I never thought about that. (Maybe I need to watch it 50 more times ) I'll have to watch it again and see.

Another thing that bugs me is in the Lucy Is Enciente episode when Ricky is walking past her table singing Rock A Bye Baby and he looks at her and she nods, the people in the background aren't the same people that are there when they sing the baby song. That just bugs me every time. I think the people in the background are from the following week's episode because you can see them dancing when Ricky is singing Cheek to Cheek.

LOL. I've never noticed that they are not the same people; gonna join you on the 50th time.
What bugs me about the bottle throw is that it goes clearly across the living room full of people and no one notices it going by until it reached the sink. What a throw! what a catch

I think because the people were all looking forward (and how odd is that at a party) they didn't see it go by. No peripheral vision or something maybe.

They were all looking forward and not even talking to each other at one point; just sitting there...now that's weird

Ricky had to make some pretense to be sure Lucy would not see them come in, trying to keep her in the bedroom or the kitchen without giving away that he was hiding something from her would have been difficult, even if they made no noise. So maybe he took her out somewhere for that reason, leaving the door unlocked, or sent her on a 'wild duck chase' if he was at rehearsal or somewhere else.

On reading your post, my first thought was that Fred could have let them in; he was right there when Ricky called his friend and knew all about Ricky's plan, and of course he has a pass key. That might be a possibility, except that when Ricky's friend called to say he could not get anyone to come there, Ricky should not have believed that and been shocked, knowing for sure that Fred-- sitting there on his couch while they were considering where Lucy was then-- had let them in, which he would not have done if they hadn't told him who they were. So the unlocked door and R & L being out at the time (together or not) seems the best explanation.

One more idea is that, like when Ricky arranged for Fred to pretend to be a burglar to rob Lucy of 'her' mink coat, Ricky let a 'real' burglar in by just presuming he was Fred in a mask. This, like the 4 men in the closet, is not a likely incident, but it's just comedy.

It may not be totally out of the question that neither Ricky nor Lucy knew any of those men and that they got in the closet without being seen or telling Ricky how they happen to be there, but.... if anyone asked me to go to a stranger's home and hide in the closet, and when called out to say I was the wife's secret lover-- I think, before considering my price (if I was dumb enough to consider the 'job' at all), I would have to know how much I could be sued for in case she opened the closet and fainted, or if she was naked and hauled me in for invasion of privacy.

I just saw the Lucy is expecting episode. A few comments to say. Lucy looks big in this episode considering this is the first episode where she said she is expecting. She is wearing a large poncho type top which makes her look big. I would think she would be dressed smaller for the first episode. Also someone mentioned the customers in the tropicana who look different in the scenes. I read that they filmed two scenes for show, one which they don't cry as much and one where they do. I guess they took portions of both scenes and put them together,.
