I Hate Being Shy - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

All right so there's this really hot guy at my work, his name is George and he's 19. He works out back though so I hardly ever see him but when I do I never say anything. I don't know if he even rememers my name because everytime he sees me it's only for a few seconds and I probably have this stupid grin plastered on my face. I just wish I can talk to him but I can't, not even a simple, "Hey." It's like the words don't even come out. I hate that I do this, I'm more outgoing than I have ever been in my life yet I'm still that shy little girl I always was and I hate that.

Oh, God, I'm the same exact way. It's awful...I'm known as the shy kid at school. I hate that.

I was extremely shy until third grade...I mean extremely. Luckily, I grew out of it; now, I'm somewhere in between, but definitely not insanely introverted.

I have achieved my goal.

I'm exactly the same way when it comes to guys. I can't talk to them, or if I do, I must sound like a total moron.

That's not going to miraculously make you not shy. I take Paxil and while I have overcome some fears, that is definitely not one of them. Being shy around someone you're attracted to is just normal.

I wouldn't worry about any of that.

I mean, if he's Prince Charming, he'll see through the shyness.

I hate being shy too! I started a new school this year, and I wish I could have a second chance in reliving the beginning of the school year. Looking back, people made solid impressions of eahc other in the first few weeks (except for myself)- and their impressions have lasted. I talk to them a bit more, some a lot more, but I'm not the person who can address the whole class, tell a joke etc. I find it hard to start speaking, like a light switch- it takes more power to switch it on that to keep it running 2 hours. It's difficult. I wish I could shout out answers and shout out witty jokes b4 sum1 else did, but no! It's a shame, at the start of the year I wanted to join the drama club, was too shy- now I have the confidence, but it's far too late! I judge myself way way way too much, and I hate it. I'm good at writing, it's the talking and interacting gets me down. However, I find it easier to exist amongst a small group of friends. But, I guess ,'ignorance is bliss' comes into play as well, since I have some negative oppinions on extremely outgoing people, yet they judge themselves so little they don't care. I WISH I DIDN'T CARE!

This thread's given me the chance to have a little outburst. Thank god.

when i was little i was SO shy. i wouldnt even talk to my friends and some of my family. i would sooner freeze than ask someone to help me button my coat. haha it was so pathetic..

but now im not really quiet. i mean of course around ppl ive never met before i am but im pretty loud otherwise

Zoloft is candy. It never worked for me, I took it off and on from 98-2002 since it was the only medication that didn't give me deathly side effects. I'm seriously beginning to wonder if it's candy or medicine, perhaps I should take the whole bottle to see if it'll do something.

I'm the same way. I can't bring myself to talk to anyone, it's hard even when I'm buying something at a store when someone talks to me. Even when people are being nice to me and talking to me, it's hard for me to keep talking. I can't hold a conversation.

Exactly. That's all meds do is make you happier you're a freak. I'd rather die than take them. Zoloft made me even more moody than I already was, and that's a big thing, seeing as they think I'm bi-polar.
