New Information from 1978 Jet Magazine about the Jeffersons
Found out the second Lionel was kicked off the show before the 1978-79 season because he had contractual disputes with the Jeffersons producers and they decided to axed him from the script. I always thought he left on his own.

I agree with Tara. The second Lionel was not Lionel to me. Why did Mike Evans leave the series the first time? I never knew why.

So Mike Evans asked Norman Lear what can he do to get off the show and Lear said just say you want to leave the show and that's what Mike did.
