"maddie, we are in deep doo doo"
what a way to start the series. their first case and they get duped by one hitman to find another. loved how at the beginning, one man tried to take franklin tate out in his hospital room. they struggled. and for a man about to die, tate gives a remarkable fight. he chases the guy down the hallway, through overturned obstacles...only thing is, on the way back to his room, tate goes back through the hallway and it is clear. not nothing on the floor or even standing up. a decorative boo boo. loved how the first morning at work, maddie finds david watching "family feud". thought that was fitting since that is how their relationship was. a good first episode. rated: 7 |

Hey, Bobby.
![]() Just a quick question first. I'm a bit confused. Is "Gunfight at the So-So Corral" the second episode? I was just on davidandmaddie.com, and the said the first one was just called "The Pilot." I really don't remember! ![]() At any rate, I'll discuss the episode at hand. Truth be told, I haven't seen this episode in years, so I barely remember anything about it! When I was reading the guide at the site, though, a couple things triggered some memories. Some of my favorite parts: Agnes: "This is our slow time." Maddie: "Mornings?" Agnes: "Well......" Maddie: "Mondays?" Agnes: "Kind of." Maddie: "Spring?" Agnes: "The 80s." David: "X-ray specs. Pretty cool, huh? You must be wearin' a lead dress...I can't see a thing!" And, of course... David: "Do bears bear? Do bees be?" I must apologize, 'cause my memory's a tad foggy when it comes to certain episodes! ![]() ~Lauren

memory, foggy????
you can't forget this show!! it is toooo goooddd. i guess the numbering will depend how how you look at it. me, i look at the pilot as not being part of the series. so that would make "gunfight..." the first episode. but if you look at the pilot as the first episode, then it would be the second episode. that would not make either way wrong, just would make a little confusion from a person's particular point of view. |

I feel guilty, now! I really wish I could remember more about ML, but I'm stuck with the same stupid episode!!! ![]() I always looked at the pilot as part of the series, so that's where I got confused. Sorry! ![]() ~Lauren

well, it like i said, neither one of our viewpoints is wrong.
it's like how you go though school being taught that 1 is the first number. if it is the first number, then where does 0 fit in? definitely not 10. because 10 is 10. 0 is not 10. therefore, that would make 0 be the actual first number. and 1 would be the second number. did i lose you. or did i just make sense?

oh boy, i can count even more ways that i love this show.
the opening: with the music and the sign "wrong way do not enter severe tire damage" i actually got butterflies. this show is going to be about emotions. the film used is expensive and not one part of it feels like a set. the movement of the actors. they do not stand and say their lines, it's constant movement. brys right. the music in the show. i really love the song selections. do bears bear? do bees bee? the actors touch, like in real life, it does not feel staged. the x-ray specs. maddie is glamourous. the fight in the car, she screams and he turns up the music. i got the giggles and almost couldn't stop. been there, done that. maddie: i know he's old, but theres something kind of david: spent maddie: worldly about him. it's seems like she's around older gentlemen. in the pilot, this episode. i agree with david. she needs him. davids definition of a promise david saying they agree, because of books-they both read left to right. these two are a wonderful comedic team and i loved this episode. |

I just watched this episode for the first time. I loved it.
I am so excited at watching from the beginning and seeing the relationship between Maddie and David develop Before I had gone from the Pilot to Womb with a View with Only Lady in an Iron Mask in between. Any other episodes I watched back in the 80s and can't remember them. Happy girl today

Sorry for the confusion. On DavidandMaddie.com we are using a database for the episode guide and for it to be able to sort in chronological order, there has to be numbers assigned to the episodes. Since the Pilot aired first---we consider it #1 and I suppose technically it is the first episode of Moonlighting. But Gunfight is the first season (normal length) episode.
I hope this makes sense and doesn't cause too much confusion. Cindy of DavidandMaddie.com |

I Loved this episode and I especially loved the fight in the car. I'm embarrassed to say I've experienced this sort of thing first hand and it was very realistic.
I thought Maddie had pretty good chemistry with the older guy no matter how 'spent' he was. I loved David's x-ray specs. Since I'm a fan of Medium and of Glen Gordon Caron- and being aware of how deliberate and detail oriented he is- I looked up the romance novel that Miss Dipesto, the receptionist was reading (Brave the Wild Wind) on Amazon.com. Here's part of the product description- The man is enraged by the woman's arrogance, yet haunted by her beauty. For his pride insists that he tames the fiery temptress who toys with his emotions and his passion won't be sated until the sensuous hellion becomes a woman in his arms. And from some reader reviews- Their clashes energize the story and keep you reading all the way through. The woman is a spoiled brat, but she is a very round character. The whole storymakes me think of a romance story the way it should be written. I love to read about women that can stand their own ground, but need the love of a man at the same time. |
