Default The Wiz

O...M...G

I watched that movie in school...

Oh lordy. Attacking wall pillars? That movie seriously disturbed me...

And there was so much singing...

Yea, I wasn't crazy about that flick

How'd you get to watch The Wiz in school? Do you do theatre studies or something? On the rare occasion we watch films in school it's the latest piece of mainstream crap released on video (we watched Signs, I like that film, but we watched it in a hall using a digital projector, and the light from the ceiling made a crap picture, and everyone was noisy)- my schools ruined Mrs Doubtfire for me- I've seen it so many times, as well as Flubber! And if anyone ever dared to bring in a video (on the rare occasion we were told to bring them in) that was different, they were hunted down! Someone brought in Hot Shots part deux, and caused a riot- cos no one had heard of it, and didn't want to watch it.

Anyway, in short- I wanna see The Wiz!

Well I love it, can't understand how it was disturbing. Then again we grew up watching it...the black version of "The Wizard of Oz" which I like too, the lions in both movies are hilarious.

I'm not trying to sound RACIST, if that's what you thought I sounded like. I am far from a racist person.

I dunno, I just found this movie...odd...quite odd...and I like the original Wizard of Oz a lot more.

I really did like Michael Jackson in it tho.

I agree, I always loved the Wiz but I can understand what Ewan's My Man means. When I saw it as a kid, I got kinda scared during that scene where they were being chased in the subway. And the sweatshop workers were pretty ugly. I don't know if I'd say it disturbed me, but I can see where some of those scenes might scare a little kid.

I wish I could do drama- in my school we do it once a week, but we can't do a drama qualification (GCSE)- we wait till we're 16 to do the Drama A-Level. Our school's drama students write plays as coursework and as their exam- their exam play last year, 'Stereo' was meant to be very good- it's meant to be getting published and tried in london. They're doing a play called Penance soon.

Anyway- The Wiz looks like good fun, Michael Jackson looks really funny and entertaining in the trailer I saw. Besides, Return to Oz was quite scary too- the wheelers!

I'm 14, I wasn't SCARED...but I dunno, I preferred the first one. I grew up watching the original. And now I watch it in drama class and their being attacked by WALL COLUMNS? And the motorcycle monkies? The the evil witch was just plain frightening. Creative...very creative...but disturbing...

Oh and when they melted the tin man!! Poor thing...

I agree there are parts of the film that can be scary and quite odd, but to me thats what makes it good.

When you watch The Wiz you are watching something very original.
