Black Actor Ron O'Neal Died Yesterday - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

He played in the 70's movie Superfly. He died yesterday from cancer in LA at Cedars Sinai hospital. He was 66. He was born in Utica, NY but he was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I didn't know he was raised in Cleveland. He went to this acting school in Cleveland called the Karamu House when he was young. I know where that school is in Cleveland. I never saw his Superfly movie, i'm gonna have to rent that. I did see him in Original Gangstas movie with Fred Williamson, Jim Brown, Pam Grier, Richard Roundtree.

Now I'm saddened to hear this news.

I saw him in the movie Superfly back in the 70's. He was big back then. It's sad that they kept his death such a secret until now........

Maybe he wanted to be remembered as a "black actor".

Usually when black actors pass I dont see the word "black" in the heading so there is nothing wrong with it. after all he was black right?

And when John Ritter died that is the first thing I thought of. Oh that white guy everyone loves.
