Inwhich episode do Darlene and David have an arguement about having kids. David wants to have kids someday but Darlene doesn't.

I don't remember which episode it was, but I do remember that Andy had just been born, so it was probably the episode after the birth, or very soon afterwards.

The episode was "Isn't It Romantic". It aired today on Oxygen.

I saw it but on two websites the description never mentioned Darlene and David arguing.

I think its funny how they were arguing about that, but then when Darlene accidentally gets pregnant, she's the one that gets excited about it, but David is unsure. Not that I blame him, because they were only 19, but still, it was sweet that Darlene actually wanted to become a mother.

I know a lot of people don't like the "Darlene getting pregnant" storyline, but I thought it was realistic (accidents do happen sometime), and I just thought it was an interesting counterbalance to the episode where she gets her period for the first time and is so upset, but her mom tells her a lot of wonderful things can happen now, like having a family.

I liked the idea of Darlene becoming a mother.
I can see her being excited about being a mother regardless of her thoughts before. I never wanted kids till I was pregnant, pregnancy can change your views a lot.

I liked the Darlene and David getting married and having a baby storyline. I also thought how Darlene doesn't even like any kid until the episode where David works at a theme park. Darlene and Dj have a bet between Jerry and a turtle. When she held Andy in Isn't it romantic she seemed tense but when you see her she isn't. I thought that Darlene and David were ready to have a baby even though they were 19. I don't see why Dan was upset he only let Darlene go to college because he didn't want 2 women thinking her ruined their lives.
I like when Roseanne asks her if she has thought of all the possibilties because not all mothers could ask their daughters that question. I always wondered if Davids parents knew he was getting married and his wife was pregnant? I know The Wedding he says it still weird mom and dad won't be here but he only ever seems to mentions his parents twice after he left them. The other time is when he talks about money he got from them when he graduated from high school.

I think Dan was upset because the thought things were going to be different for her. He thought that Darlene would finish college and get a great career going and move out of the lower-middle class/blue collar lifestyle. At first I think he was hoping that Becky would make it, but then she ran off and got married at age 17. Then Darlene started getting really good grades and was accepted to this writing school early, and started getting these job offers before she even graduated, and I think he thought that she was destined for something more. Especially because she seemed so focused and determined for something more. And I don't think Dan thought as much about David as Rosanne did. Roseanne simply adored him, but Dan thought he was weird and mopey and maybe not the best person for Darlene. So when Darlene gets pregnant unexpectedly and decides to marry David when they are both still teenagers, Dan sees this as Darlene throwing her future away, because it didn't match the plans Dan saw for her. Roseanne seemed to have better perspective because she knew what kind of parents Darlene and David would be and how David got a job and how determined Darlene was. So for her, she saw the bigger picture that even though it would be very difficult, it could still work out.

it was unrealistic that 3 of them would all have "accidents" in a row. unless that is a common thing is some families...

What is unrealistic about 3 people getting pregnant in one family?
Sex gets you pregnant and if you dont protect yourself then no matter what family you are in you have a chance of getting pregnant.

Jackie has casual sex (good way to get pregnant)
Roseanne and Dan are married and I am sure they dont always use a condom
Darlene and David probably like most teens got into the moment and didnt think about the consequences

yes, unprotected sex gives you a chance to get pregnant. but all 3 of them within a matter of 2 years? either they all rarely/never used a rubber or it's a far fetched coincidence. and i'm not sure, were any of them supposed to be taking birth control pills? i know those arent 100% but it still would lower the likelihood of it happening.

Becky was the only one on Birth Control that they did a show on, Darlene stated to Roseanne that she already knew about the pill and she didnt need Roseanne telling her
Jackie never said if she was on birth control, and Dan and Roseanne had wanted another baby at one time in the show and they decided to just let it happen if it was meant to be and do it the old fashion way so technically that is not an accident

As for the other 2 yes they should have know but that doesnt make for the story lines they had in mind....
First off Laurie Metcalf was pregnant in real life so they added it to the show
And if you watch the final episode it was Becky who was pregnant from David and Becky and Mark were trying so in that perspective David and Becky did not get pregnant by accident, only Jackie

i guess when you add that twist to darlene's baby it does make more sense for justifying hers. i just didnt like the idea of 3 babys being born on a show in 2 years, it seemed like they were overdoing it.

I'm not sure what happened with Jackie...I would hope she was using a condom because she didn't know Fred and if she was just on birth control, then if he had an STD, she could have gotten it. So I'm assuming she used a condom, but maybe it broke.

I don't know if this is valid, but this is my thought on what happened with David and Darlene. They DID know each other, very well, so Darlene may have gotten on birth control when they got back together again (before, they might have used condoms, or she could have been on the pill and then stopped), and maybe when they slept together at Disney World, she hadn't been on the pill long enough for it to take full effect. I think you have to be on it a few weeks or a few months for it to really work. I don't know, just a theory.

Darlene was on the pill because in The birds and the frozen bees she says "well I guess I better go back on the pill"

In one episode Roseanne says to Jackie"so thats where the condom went"

By the sixth or seventh season most jokes were about sex. But even if Darlene was on the pill it isn't 100% effective. I have a friend who got pregnant while using birth control. ROseanne does tell Becky that birth control only kicks in after 1 month
