One of my favorites. This episode was on this morning. Peter's meets an exact double of himself one day at school, and within seconds they agree to play pranks on the Brady family.
The double agrees to make a date with his dad's boss's niece on Friday, after Peter had gotten a date from a girl he had been asking for months. The double falls in love with Jan when he sees her and tells her, "I would do anything for you," when she asks for help with her homework. He sits closely next to her and stares at her face the whole time. When they switch back and Peter comes inside, he acts really surprised whenever someone mentions something he did or said a few moments before. When Jan asks for help again, he says, "Not on your life!" I'm surprised Robert Reed didn't have any issues with this episode. He is unable to refer to smelling cooked strawberries, but an episode about an exact double is totally fine. |

That's one of my favorite episodes too. I wondered why Peter and the "double" would act surprised when somebody said something. They're supposed to be playing a trick. Why wouldn't they just go along with what they're saying? Like when Alice said, "You already had pie" and Peter said, "I did??"

It was for this very reason I have never cared much for that episode. It was too outlandish and poorly written. Good question about why Robert Reed didn't have issues with it. |

This was the final season. I think Cousin Oliver was in it.
Maybe Reed had just given up at this point and didn't care. OR he did not want to step on an opportunity for Chris to act in a double role... I mean, assuming that it WAS Chris in both roles... Or maybe it was so absurd and funny that he enjoyed it. |

One unusual point about this ep: it was the first ep filmed w/ Cousin Oliver. Welcome Aboard, the ep that introduced Oliver, was filmed just after this one, but ABC aired Welcome Aboard first. In local syndication, where eps usually air in production order, this ep airs first. TV Land, which runs some series in production order and some in network air order, airs this one after Welcome Aboard.

Sherwood Schwartz used this plot devise a lot. Peter had a double. Alice, like Patty Duke, had an identical cousin. Mike and Carol's grandparents look an awful lot like them. And Jan is a dead ringer for her Aunt Jenny. Over at "Gilligan's Island", Gilligan, Mr. Howell, and Ginger all had doubles who popped up on the island.

You are absolutely correct. The episode called "Two Petes In A Pod" was the 1st of 6 episodes where Cousin Oliver(Robbie Rist)
makes hid debut. Also if you notice very closely,Christopher Knight plays BOTH roles: Peter Brady and Arthur Owens. I guess this episode was kind of like "The Parent Trap",and "The Patty Duke Show" in one! In "Sergeant Emma"(Episode 69),Ann B. Davis also does a double role in this episode. I guess when they did the "TV Land Awards", Ann and Chris should have got awards for "Best Actor In A Dual Role". |

Did any of you ever see Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory? Great movie.Denise Nickerson Played Violet the girl who blew up like a balloon when she ate the candy she was not supposed to. She played Pamela the girl Arthur made a date with. Isn't that good trivia? |
