How would you rank the Star Trek films? 1 being the best, 10 being the worst. Here's how I rank them:

2. First Contact
3. The Voyage Home
4. The Undiscovered Country
5. Nemesis
6. Generations
7. The Motion Picture
8. Insurrection

10. The Final Frontier

Default THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK!!

Why does everyone give TSFS such a bad rap? That was a fantastic film. The Klingons in that film remain the best I have ever seen. Christopher Lyodd was great as Kruge. There was a great score by James Horner. And you can't tell me you were not saddened by the destruction of the Enterprise and the death of David-both of which gave the film a great deal of dramatic punch.
There was also some great battle sequences like when the Bird of Prey attacks the Grissiom or the show down between it and the Enterprise.

What a coincidence, I was discussing the ranking of Star Trek films with a friend the other day. These are the things I talk about in bars with friends.
Anyway, I'm going to split the films into Original Series and Next Gen films, since I see them as seperate film series.

My rank of the "Original Series" films

Wrath Of Kahn
Undiscovered Country
The Motion Picture - all nine hours of it
The Voyage Home
The Final Frontier
The Search For Spock

The "Next Gen" films

First Contact
Insurrection
Nemesis
Generations

For me, the movie suffers because Leonard Nimoy isn't in the film until the last five minutes.
Plus, the movie is a bit of a downer; the Enterprise goes down in flames, the Genesis planet dies, and Kirk's son is murdered.

I agree those plot points have a great dramatic impact, but there were too many negatives to get to the one positive - the return of Spock.
