MINNEAPOLIS & CULVER CITY, Calif. Jan. 6, 2004 -- General Mills and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) are teaming up to offer one of four limited-edition DVDs free inside boxes of Total and Oatmeal Crisp cereals. The DVDs include episodes of television family favorites, "The King of Queens," "Mad About You," "Barney Miller" and "The Donna Reed Show."

The DVDs, which have a retail value of up to $14.99, will be offered on specially marked boxes of Total, Total Brown Sugar & Oats, Total Raisin Bran, Oatmeal Crisp Almond and Oatmeal Crisp Raisin cereals starting this month. In addition to episodes from each series, some of the DVDs also include bonus footage, as well as promotional trailers for "The King of Queens" in syndication and on DVD. Families can select which DVD they want through a cut-out window on the front of the box. The special promotion is available while supplies last.

"More than 60 million U.S. households are estimated to have a DVD player," said Cheryl Welch, director of promotion marketing for General Mills' Big G cereals. "This is a great way for Total and Oatmeal Crisp to help families build their DVD library - with a variety of entertainment designed to appeal to the whole family."

Set in the working-class suburb of Queens, New York, "The King of Queens" takes viewers into the lives of Doug Heffernan (Kevin James), an amiable parcel delivery driver, and his spitfire wife Carrie (Leah Remini), a legal secretary, as they explore the everyday challenges of love, life, family and marriage...made even more difficult by having Carrie's twice-widowed father Arthur (Jerry Stiller) living in their basement. In addition to airing in syndication (check local listings for time and station), the series continues in its sixth season on the CBS Television Network, airing Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. The second-season of "The King of Queens" will be released on DVD by Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment in spring 2004. "The King of Queens" DVD contains the 'Clothes Encounter' episode and bonus material featuring behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews.

That's the best piece of info to come out of that whole thing right there! Season 2 coming in either March, April or May!

YEAH!

Plus "Clothes Encounter" is from last year. It's the ep where Carrie keeps buying clothes and returns them for full refund within a month. Good show, but I can wait for season 5 on dvd since I've got it taped.

I bought the box of cereal (which was on sale for $2.50) and once i got the dvd threw away the cereal.

LOL! I probably would've done the same thing!

They now are being sold on ebay for half the price of the complete Season 1 DVDs. For one episode, it's a rip.

However, I'm curious about the 'extras'. How is it?

the quality of the episode 'clothes encounter' is okay and the extras are introductions of the cast members, a chopped up version of the cast interview from the season one dvd, they also have a look at one secen being made and a KOQ commercial. it was worth $2.50 and the stor i work at is still selling the cereal boxes.

I found it! The cereal isn't half bad either! LOL....

Great episode... I believe it was one of the first episodes that I watched when I 'discovered' KOQ so it was kinda neat to have it on DVD now.

The 'extras' interviews were a re edited version of the interviews of Kevin James and Jerry Stiller found on the Season One DVDs, as you stated, but the introduction and the 'behind the scenes' footage was new to me.

I wish it had more! I think it would be pretty cool to actually see a taping of the show.

I'm such a goober. I bought some Multi-Grain cheerios and thought why didn't I see the DVD offer so I come back here and realize that's not the right ceral.

I finally got the DVD. I had to search the boxes of cereal in the store for a while to find one with KOQ. They didn't have too many! I'm really pleased with it. I can't wait for the 2nd season to be released.
