Thumbs up The Kleptomania episode (plus those peaches in mmmm-mmmm)

Last night on TV land, I had the pleasure of seeing one of my all-time favorite episodes -- the one in which Edith is (erroneously) arrested for kleptomania.

When my sister and I were children, we used to imitate Edith's exclamation of "I'm a KLEPPER!!!" all the time. Then my mom started on it! The episode brings back such great memories for me. In fact, every once in a while, one of us will still say that (especially funny upon leaving a store), and will crack each other up.

I love when Edith, after refusing to see a psychiatrist, goes to see the priest, who helps her to realize that she was not guilty of stealing. Of couse, the scene is extra funny due to the fact that Edith still will not say 'cling peaches in heavy syrup,' because, from that episode (also brilliant, and another favorite of mine), Archie couldn't take her constant repeating of the phrase, which ended up as 'cling peaches in mmm-mmm,' lest she be told to 'stifle, haaaah!'

That one makes me piss myself laughing. Mmm-mmm has also become a catchphrase in my family for "things otherwise unmentionable."

So, a big thank you to the writers for these great phrases.

How does everyone else like (or dislike) these 2 episodes???

Addicted You must have wet clothes after watching that episode. How dry is your chair?

I also really enjoy those 2 episodes, "Addicted".

Whenever I watch the the kleptomania episode, I'm reminded that part of Edith's conversation with Father Majesky is edited from the syndicated version. What's cut is where Edith tells him that, after directing the old lady which bus to take, she looks in the mirror (while trying on the wig) and sees herself "lookin' puzzled".

BTW, I hate to nit-pick another huge fan of the show (as am I), but "mmm-hmmm" actually refers to the cling peaches, not the heavy syrup. (It's, "...a can of mmm-hmm <pause> in heavy syrup.")

OK, here are my replies:

1) Yes, my chair gets awfully wet when I see the kelptomania episode... but such is life.

2) Oh dear, I can't believe the mmm-mmm's referred to the peaches and not the heavy syrup (boy, I'm getting hungry now ). I guess that just goes to show that it's been a while since I saw that one. I hope TV Land puts it on soon.
IMAGINE... Edith the dingbat looking puzzled.... who'd'a thought?

Another hilarious line from the Klepto episode is Archie's reply to Edith when she accuses him of never liking Arthur, their cat. He says, "I hated his fish-eating guts!!" That makes me guffaw every single time, even though I adore cats.

Happy Tuesday

If you're gonna correct someone, do it right. Actually, it's: "hmmmmmm-hmm-hmmms (cling peach--es)....<pause>....in heavy syrup."
