Wow. That Paul looks like a freak. I think his wife seemed to be kinda slow witted in the interview. Something about her seemed like she was not all there to begin with.
Anyone else notice this? |

Yes, he was very freaky. They made a movie about this one(along with the Dave Davis cases, one of the first cases from the Stack episodes, the Sleepwalker Killing and Voice from the Grave). They all had "From the Files of Unsolved Mysteries" in the title.
I think they were made-for-cable because the only channel I have ever seen it on was Lifetime. |

Yeah I agree that the wife was slow witted. Alot of the female victims are pretty stupid to get involved with these pyscos. Then they stay with them. I love the cases where the woman dates the guys that go to jail and say oh he will get better or he did not mean it. Some of them are not too bright. Men and the Women.

Not all battered women are slow witted.
I was speaking of this woman ONLY as she came across rather vacant in the UM eppy. I hardly think you can say most battered women are stupid. HAVE YOU EVER LIVED IT YOURSELF????? Come on over...let's see how "stupid" you feel after... Me and YOU!!!!

sorry that may have came across wrong, but what I think is that alot of women with battered women syndrome are in denail how bad people are. I hate people who beat thier partner and think it is totally wrong. I also feel sorry for women or men who are in abusive relationships. Part of me is fustrated when I see women stay with men that hit them because they deserve so much more and it pisses me off. So sometimes I could use the word stupid out of fustration. Sorry did not mean to offend anyone.

Well, unfortunately, as they say-Love is Blind. It seems like the same pattern: woman gets beaten up and then her boyfriend or husband ends up in jail. He pleads with her to take him back (well, sometimes they don't end up in jail, which is the more common case), she doesn't want to believe that the guy she's in love with is a monster. She wants to believe that maybe he was just having a bad day, i mean people make mistakes, right? So then she takes him back. This vicious cycle keeps repeating over and over again. Sometimes she may even feel sorry for him, because he's got problems and possibly she can change him-maybe with just a little help, he will be the loving man she once knew. Eventually, she ends up crippled or dead. I personally have not been in this type of situation, but from observing these types of situations, I can honestly say that it's all an issue of being too blind to see and thinking that the man will change. Also, it doesn't help when the woman has had no or limited experience with man/ woman relationships.

You hit it dead on, bebe_23. Unfortunately, cases like that are very common and you hear about them all the time. Some people are capable of changing but others aren't. And we can only hope that none of our loved ones ever get caught up in a situation like that because you never know what the consquences will be. But of course, not all mates are going to turn out as crazy like Paul Stamper. At least we hope so.
