Default Favorite early morning female co-host: Jane Pauley or Joan Lunden???

Joan Lunden was my all time favorite because she had such an inviting presence about her when she was on Good Morning America. She was like the girl next door. All she went through to get past David Hartman's need to control the show and not given his female co-stars on the show to shine. Joan stayed in there and in the long run outshined David. Her and Charlie Gibson were an excellent and refreshing team to watch.

I liked Jane as well especially with Tom Brokaw. They seemed genuine in their interaction with each other on the show and it was not forced.

Jane Pauly by far. Joan was a show off, Ms.Pauly was more herself. Jane was better looking than Barbara Walters but still strongly resembled Barbara Wa Wa. Agreed?

I remember watching Joan Lunden on Good Morning America with David Hartman, too. But I've always liked Jane Pauly.

Joan seemed like she had more fun and would be someone you could identify with, Jane seemed so full of her self. JMO!

Joan Lunden set the standard for TV newswomen/hosts. Joan was among the first to understand that looking beautiful, flirting with the camera and giving great leg shots are vital to ratings, not just intelligent reporting and indepth interviews. It was Joan Lunden who gave millions of men a reason to watch an early morning TV program.

Well Joan certainly knew a lot about intellegant reporting too. She was also a very down-to-earth person that we could all identify with. She was also unafraid to share her personal life and show her pregnancy, talk about her home-life and so on, but she did it with personality and not annoying like other s (Paging, Kathie Lee Gifford).

I am in full agreement with the above statements. Joan took being a female morning co-host to an entire new level. She had Barbara Walters, who also broke ground as a female morning co-host on Today, as her mentor. Joan balanced her home life and professional life. We cheered Joan on during her pregancies and her horrifying divorce from that bum Michael Krauss. Joan bringing motherhood into the set paved the way for other women in the morning such as Jane Pauley and Katie Couric.

I still have a hard time watching Diane Sawyer on GMA. Joan was quite refreshing and inviting to watch.
