Default Child abduction from home by "Uncle"

I remember watching an episode of Unsolved Mysteries when I was younger which really scared me. It was about a girl who woke up in the middle of the night when her front door was knocked on (I think she was only like 9) she went to answer it and she asked "who is it" and they said it was her uncle. This is known because her sister was peeking from someplace else. She opened the door and the kidnappers grabbed her and ran away with her and drove off in a car. The other little girl didnt tell anybody about what happened for a little while because she was scared.
Sometime later a waitress who was serving a man and woman and a girl was cleaning up and on a napkin was written "Help Me" or something like that.
Im not sure really what happened ... i cant remember it too much. Any news on this would help thankyou.

I remember the case too and think about it from time to time. For the life of me, though, I can't remember the missing girl's name. I know it's a Latin name and rather long. I do remember that she was abducted from Albuquerque, New Mexico. It also happened in the late 1980s, I'm fairly certain of that.

Do you remember the part where she called the police a couple years later and said her name and where she was (in Albuquerque still) before a man was heard yelling "Who said you can use the phone?" and then the girl screamed before the phone was hung up? I always wondered if that was really her or not. I remember that her mother thought it was her by the way she pronounced her name and how she screamed.

Another thing that puzzled me was the sister's story. How come no one else in the house heard the abductor banging on the front door? And what if it had been one of the parents who answered it?

Yes that is right about the phone call. I remember that too. I remember I was realli young when that happened and thought i was gonna get abducted ... I couldnt sleep.

The kidnappers probably wouldve scouted the girl before the abduction because they knew the uncles name. (I remember they had him on it and he had no clue why he was used) ..... If the parents answered i suppose they wouldve csaid they were someone else. BUt I remember them grabbing her and throwing her into a van .... scary!

I remember that story too. I think her first name was Annette. Not sure on the spelling though.

The little girl's name is Anthonette Cayedito. She's still missing after 17 years, so sad.

THANK YOU for providing her name!

Here's her page at childsearch.org. I was mistaken before; she was from Gallup and not Albuquerque.

Yes, it's been 17, almost 18 years.....

That age-enhanced picture is pretty scary. She doesn't look aged at all, in my opinion.

If I remember correctly, in the UM re-enactment Anthonette was wearing glasses when she was seen at the restaurant after her kidnapping. Is that right?

Yes, she was wearing glasses in the re-enactment. I wonder if that was a mistake or Anthonette was really wearing glasses. Can you imagine being that waitress and witnessing what Anthonette was doing to get her attention. If some young child was purposely dropping utensils on the floor and then grabbing my hand, I wouldn't know what to think. Would I think that the child needed help? If I had seen the note asking for help and to call the police, that definately would've freaked me out. I hope that Anthonette is still out there somewhere, and alive.

I dont think i have ever seen this case and what a shame, it sounds soooo interesting. Is this a case that has been on the reruns or is it super old, one of those "sitting on the shelf segments"????

I've seen it on Lifetime before. It is an older episode, so it probably doesn't get played very often these days.

Uncle Joe the guy said. And then they procedded to say there was an Uncle Joe so they checked him out, and they came up with well this guy had to have known that, or the girl would not have opened the door.

What bothers me is the little girls story. She did not do anything wrong so why would she have not gotten in trouble? I always had trouble with that. Plus your sister was just taken, what girl or boy would not have gone screaming to mommy or daddy?
