I was a huge fan of Coackroach from the Cosby Show. Not really too Popular but entertained the hell out of me.

Can you be more clear with what you mean by unpopular? Do you mean a character that wasn't popular among the other character's and at school, work etc. on the show, or do you mean unpopular among viewers, meaning not too many people knew the character and/or liked the character?

I loved Jazz from Fresh Prince - unpopular is subjective. He was unpopular with Uncle Phil! And I believe Fresh Prince started in 1989.
