Default The 8th Season

I realize that some aren't in love with the final season of Wings but as I'm watching it, I believe season 8 is just as good as the 7th season. Who else feels season 8 is underated

i'm a bi behid in my tape-watching, so i just hit season 8 last night... i thought "Grouses Houses ad Bickering Spouses" was a season 8 epiosde, but i just checked the episode guide, and its not... that one was funny though. I love that episode. I loe the part when Joe and Helen are trying to sell their old property to that really gullible couple. That whole scene was hilarious! haha.
I was thinking that season 8 is funner than I remembered, until I just found out from the episode guide that season 8 starts with the "Porno For Pyros" episode.

But season 8 wasn't my favorite season, but there are a few really good episodes in season 8. I think it's a little underrated by some people, but I agree that it's not one of the best seasons of Wings.

Oh! and according to the N@N schedule, "Olive Or Twist" is going to be on tonight. As a whole, I don't really like this eoisode. BUT, it has one of the funniest scenes of the series, I think. I don't think anyone else really agrees with me, because I've mentioned it before. lol. But I laugh soooo hard at those scenes when Joe and Helen are drunk. I just think it's so hilarious. It gets me every time. lol!
and on N@N's schedule, the second episode that's on tonight is "Let's Talk About Sex", and in the summary of the episode, they talk about the talkshow host, but they say, Mary Lee Pat... isn't it Mary Pat Lee???!! lol
Wow, that's one way you know you watch too much Wings... when you know the name of a character whose only been on the show twice and has 3 first names for a name. haha.

...but hey, if that episode is on, that means they're skipping 4 episodes in between... one of which, i've never seen before! (the Christmas one)

I agree with you jpnoyes

I enjoyed the majority of episodes in the 8th season. There were a few that fell flat, but you could say that about most seasons. This seems to be an ongoing debate on the message board...

I could name several episodes I really liked, such as "Too Beautiful for You" that was just on. I thought the quality of the show stayed pretty consistent throughout, and I can understand how some may like other seasons better then others. The 6th year happened to be my personal favorite. But I still liked the 8th.....every season was good for me but maybe I'm just easy to please?

Yes, NICK IS skipping 4 episodes (including the 3-part "Wingless" story)....and I have no idea why! I can understand skipping another Christmas episode, but some of these other "random skips" that have occurred over the past few months, including "Black Eye Affair", really confuse me....There seems to be no real reason for it!

they skipped the All About Christmas Eve the first time around as well. Even while I was watching the show, the programming guide said it was All About Christmas Eve, but it was the Let's Talk About Sex episode.

According to the programming guide they are supposed to show a Terminal Christmas in January, which they skipped on both of the first two revolutions, so we'll just have to wait and see

My problem with the post-wedding episodes of Wings is they just don't seem to have the heart, soul, and good humor that the earlier episodes had. I thought the focus of the show shifted from an ensemble show to the Joe and Helen Show with the other characters pushed into the background. I know it was only natural for Joe and Helen to get married and I think they are a great couple, but I liked the show a lot better when it was about a group of people who worked at an airport instead of a married couple and their friends. Also, I noticed that more and more of the episodes during the final two years had two or three different storylines whith the characters split up instead of just one storyline that everyone was involved in. Most of my favorite Wings episodes are the ones with one main plot with everyone involved in some way instead of multiple storylines. I notced some negative character changes too, like Antonio becoming more miserable and Brian sticking only with Casey.

Anyhoo, that's just my opinion I do think that the later Wings episodes are still better than just about anything that's on TV nowadays.

I've noticed that too....The later episodes seem to have different characters "doing their own thing" in separate storylines.

The same thing happened during the later seasons of "Taxi". Personally, I like the "ensemble" type of stories where everyone is involved in a single plot instead of a main plot featuring a few of the characters and "side-plots" involving the rest, with little or no interaction between everyone at once.

I believe the show is better when the entire gang is together too. For instance, in the episode Single and Hating It, we see the gang together at the singles mingle. A great episode considering it was in it's 8th season. In hosed we see Joe and helen go nuts over a vaccum cleaner. Not a horrible episode, but it falls a little flat.
