Cool the Airplane! movies

Has anyone here ever seen them? I've seen Airplane! and Airplane! 2. I don't know if there are any more sequels. I think they're really funny movies and I think anyone who is a fan of Wings would like them too.

I've seen most of the first one. It's wicked funny! hahaha! the funny thing is that my parents actually own it on laserdisc, but for some reason I haven't had a chance to actually watch the whole thing. I don't know if Ive seen any of the second one.

"Roger, Roger."
"We have clearance, Clarence"
"What's your vector, Victor?"

Oh MAN, do I love that first "Airplane!" movie! (I've never seen "Airplane 2", but I heard that it wasn't as good as the first one).....

Being a vintage TV and movie fan, I love "Airplane!" because it features several veteran SERIOUS stars of the 1950's and 60's(Robert Stack, Leslie Neilsen...before he was considered "funny"....and Lloyd Bridges) playing it straight and not cracking a smile.

I could see several of the "Wings" regulars being right at home in an "Airplane!" movie, and doing a funny job of it! (Couldn't you just Tim Daly as the serious-acting hero?).

What isn't funny about this movie?!!! That guy who plays Johnny is too funny. And Leslie Nielsen, I think that movie started his comedic acting. I saw him in a black & white movie recently, and of course he had dark hair. Not used to seeing that!

"Surely you can't be serious"
"I am serious, and don't call me Shirley" I still laugh at that!!

Barbara Billingsley(Mrs. Cleaver) speaking jive!! YES!!

And when they're talking to the guy from the Mayo Clinic, and he's got all those jars of mayo behind him on the shelf. It's all so silly.

Now I cannot watch the first "Airport" without chuckling through it because I keep thinking of the similar scenes in "Airplane".

That reminds me of those "Wings" episodes where sweet Fay will start talking like a tough gangster or safecracker. In episodes like "Final Approach" and "Death Becomes Him", Fay will be in on some scheme with the Hackett brothers, and she'll suddenly take over as the tough "brains" of the outfit, spouting lingo and terms that sound straight out of an old Jimmy Cagney or Edward G. Robinson movie! She's HILARIOUS when she does that!

I totally agree! I think I've seen Airplane & Airplane 2... that's all I recall. But I love that kind of humor. Like the jars of mayo... it's something that doesn't jump at you, it's unexpected, and then you put it together and it's sooooooooooo funny.

I rented "Johnny English" because it was a spoof movie... but almost every joke I saw coming from a mile away, so I didn't laugh much at all.

Love,

Wing<><
