Default I got the Classic 39 DVD, but...

Found the C39 DVD last Saturday at Best Buy (I'd been checking Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal Mart, etc for several weeks, but finally found two copies on the shelf at Best Buy...I had to knock over a few people to grab the C39 DVD, but I understand most of them will be out of the hospital within the week) .

Anyway, I've watched three episodes so far:

TV or Not TV (the first episode aired)
Funny Money (when Ralph finds the suitcase of counterfeit $)
The $99,000 Answer

The sound quality of the "TV or not TV" episode, in which Ralph and Norton split the cost of a TV set, is bad... the soundtrack is a couple of seconds behind the action on the screen...

Is it that way on all the DVDs or is it possible I just get a bad copy?

And why would anyone put out a DVD with that type of a problem...don't they check the epidodes before they issue DVDs?

When I've seen that episode on TV, it never had that problem...will this be corrected?

Still glad I was finally able to find it in the store (and at $40, it was about the same as the price I'd seen online...I was expecting to spend $50 in the store).

I've been watching th DVDs in order, from the first episode onwards. I'm up to disc 4 and haven't noticed any lip sync problems. I'll watch "TV or Not TV" again this weekend, look at the lips closely and let you know the results.

Thanks, I appreciate the input...I think I'll try watching it again myself to see if it happens again...

Well, that was strange...

I put in DVD # 1 again today, just to try it...

And the sound for ep # 1 was in synch

It was so annoying to have one messed up episode on that great DVD set, but apparently, maybe something wasn't right with our DVD player....at any rate, the sound for that episode is fine now...

Man, glad that's over...I appreciate all of you folks' inputs on this...

I wasn't sure what was going on...hopefully, that'll be the last I see of that problem... We probably have less than 10 DVDs in our collection so far, but this was the first time we had a problem with sound like that...the player must have been having a bad day...

I'm glad your problem appears to be gone, Tweety. I watched "TV or Not TV" last night and while I didn't have a lip sync problem, the sound itself is terrible on my DVD. The volume is very low and muffled, like the transfer was made from a tape deck with miss-aligned, worn or dirty heads. Also, starting at about 10 minutes in and for the duration of the episode, I have white vertical lines running down the left side of the picture. I don't know if that's from the film to DVD transfer or if it's some sort of digital artifact. I'm glad the rest of the discs look and sound much better than the first episode!

Yes, the sound on my episode 1 is more muffled than the other episodes I've watched so far....and I've heard other people mention the verticle lines in the picture, although that didn't happen on my copy...

The other episodes definitely sound better than TV or Not TV... I hope that vertical line problem gets fixed...

Is that the one where Ralph runs out of the bedroom after hearing gunshots from the TV? That has hysterical! If you look closely, you can see Art Carney crack up during that scene.

Here are some of the scenes from the "Classic 39" episode "TV or Not TV". It was late at night, and Ralph was still watching TV and he heard Alice saying "Ralph, would you come to bed, it's 1:00 in the morning!". And he said, "I'm watching 'The Late Show.'" And Ralph was still watching TV and then he heard Alice again saying "You're going to work tomorrow." And then he said "I'll be there in a minute." And Ralph was still watching TV again and got very tired. Then all of a sudden, a familiar end music came on and Ralph was staring at the TV watching the title reads "The End" and the movie was over and Ralph was still awake. She heard Ralph saying, "Ralph, would you wake up and come to bed!" and he said "What?" and Alice replied "Ralph, go to bed!" And he said "All right!" And he walks to the wrong door and got tired. Then suddenly, Bam! Ralph fell down the stairs and hurt his head. And then, Alice came to the kitchen and she saw Ralph bumped his head and Alice told Ralph that he would not watch TV all night. That's how the scene goes.
