Default Just saw YMCA (Spoilers!)

Funny stuff! even a guest appearance by David Spade in the end! But I have to say, the little sub plot about Rory's "little friend" was very innapropriate for a family show. I just wonder how they would have done it if John was still around...

So is Sexual Intercourse and things like that, but that dosen't mean its appropriate to air on a family show.

I don't see how you could be against Rory's 'friend' side story. To say that 8 Simple Rules is a show for all family is kinda farfetched, afterall, even in the first episode there was quite a bit of sexual 'talk' as well as sexual innuendo. WHile I agree it's more family oriented than, say, The Soprano's, it doesn't mean it's for young kids. There were a lot of jokes Kerry has made about Bridget and her 'having experience in the backseat of a car' and in the episode where they thought they were going to have a new sibling and Bridget said "When that baby is my age I'll be," and Kerry cut in and said "Dancing around a pole?"

So the show has never been a perfectly clean show, however I am willing to bet that the way they present the innuendo, anyone under 13, except early bloomers, will not get the jokes, and they'd go over their head, whereas people 13 and over can not only enjoy, but in the case of this episode, guys can relate.

Part of the reason I liked this episode so much was because of Rory's 'problem', as I said above, it is something all guys go through, so to see how HE dealt with it was kinda funny. Plus, when he said to his Grandpa, "I can't, he has no ears" I laughed for 5 minutes. Just the way he said it, was so funny. I have noticed that in this season, Rory's character is being developed, MUCH more. He always had those witty, sarcastic, funny lines in the first season, but now, he is getting even more lines, and no matter the situation, he can bring some laughter.

So personally, I don't object to them talking about that on the show, afterall it is natural, and it was tasteful. The only part that kinda came close to the line was when they started to get into the whole masturbation thing, but they ended that discussion quick, and it made for extra comedy. Definetly a 9/10 for me!

I'm 12 and I get the jokes.

Exactly, you'd fall into that early bloomer category is mentioned. Some people are ready for sexual humor at an earlier age, some take longer. I used 13 as a general example.

Well, Rory asked what he should do about it until he passes the phase. And his grandpa told him to go against what he said earlier, stop putting his hands in his pants/pockets, and to actually do it. It wasn't anything revealing, but the way Grandpa Jim said, was funny.

i thought that was just Jim telling him how to hide it, not a masturbation joke
like parents/grandparents "always" say "stand up straight" and "take ur hands out of ur pockets". hes telling rory to forget when he's said that

I suppose that makes sense too. The way I interpreted it was that he was jacking it in the public or something, and Gramps told him not to, but to 'take care of it' it's fine. Your idea makes more sense though, I suppose I shouldn't have thought too much into it.

yeah i dont think it was a masturbation joke, however it could easily be interpreted as that type of joke.
