Default compairing Lisa Bonet and Rae Dawn Chong

Let's compair these two actresses, who were both most successful in the 1980's. Lisa on tv and Rae in movies. There are simularities, both are mixed, both played the same types of characters. Most of their characters were good girls that had a little bad girl edge in them.

I am not asking who is better, but I just like to hear your thoughts on this actresses, and if you think there are simularities.

Rae Dawn Chong made better movies than Lisa has. I like Beat Street, Commando, Soul Man. I rented a movie with Rae a couple of days ago called Boulevard. That movie came out in 94 & it also starred Lou Diamond Phillips, Lance Henrikensen, Kari Wuhrer. Rae was a prostitute in the movie & Lou was her pimp. Kari was a homeless woman & she moved into Rae's apartment cause Rae felt sorry for her. Kari eventually became a prostitute & she had her ex boyfriend looking for her. Her ex was very abusive. She had a baby by her ex but she gave it up for adoption cause she didn't have a job & she couldn't support the baby financially. There was one scene where Rae & Kari had sex. The sex was explicit. Kari is very attractive. I saw her in Higher Learning movie with Larry Fishburne, Omar Epps, Ice Cube. She was also on Beverly Hills 90210 before i believe. Ever since Lisa Bonet took that role in the Angel Heart movie with Mickey Rourke, her career went downhill.

Lisa's career has never taken off outside of Carsey/Werner tv shows. But she definately has had the most successful post-Cosby career for any of the Huxtables. She had reasonable parts in 3 big-budget movies in the past five years (Enemy Of The State, High Fidelity and Biker Boys) and she also got rave reviews for her tv movie Lathe Of Heaven in 2002.

Can we say the same for Sabrina LeBeauf, Tempestt Bledsoe or Keisha Knight-Pulliam in the last decade?

Don't forget about Lisa's role in the first season of "A Different World."

While I love "Beat Street", Rae is sort of a Hop Hop diva because of her role in "Beat Street", a cult film amoug fans of old school hip hop. However "Soul Man" is a terrible movie.

Soul Man wasn't a terrible movie. U remember her & C Thomas Howell were a couple in real life? I guess they started dating when Soul Man was out.

I didn't think "Soul Man" was a good movie, but that is just my opinion, if you liked it, that is your opinion. To each his own.
