Question Stand Corrected

If you are doing something wrong, like spelling or getting a popular phrase wrong or whatever, would you want to be corrected?

I voted - according to how it is worded.
If they come on the board & cus me out because of it, then no, I would not want to be corrected.
BUT if they came on here & in a nice & polite way told me what I was doing wrong & how to fix it then sure, it's fine that they correct me.

It definitely depends on how they word it. If they go "HEY ALLISON, THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SAY IT!", then I get offended. So, yeah.

As long as I'm not corrected as far as grammar and spelling goes, I don't mind. But if someone or some people constantly correct another person's grammar and especially if that person shows that he/she minds it, then that annoys me more than if my own grammar or spelling was corrected. I would think it is embarassing to that person or to myself it it happened. If a person has consistently poor grammar and bad spelling it could be one of several things: (1) The person may not be American, (2) English might not be that person's first language, (3) The person could me mentally challenged, or (4) The individual may have chosen to not pay attention to grammar/spelling errors for reasons which are of nobody's concern. The Earth does not go out of its orbit because someone misspells a word.

see, most of the time when i am typing online..im also listening to music/ doing other things....so if i do screw up my grammar...its just because im not concentrating on what im typing..and when people correct it, its annoying, because i know how to write correctly...

I don't want to sound conceited, but I despise being corrected. I mean, I'm wrong a lot, but when I am, I know it; I don't need other people shoving their "genius" in my face.

Well...except for the Allison part...if someone said "Hey Allison..." to me I'd just stare...

It depends on who's correcting me. Some people like to be a smartass, so that pisses me off. Especially when you correct them and then they get all defensive, blah blah blah. Some people also like to correct you in a crowd to either make you look stupid, or to make them look like a big shot. Thats when it gets annoying. As far as correcting peoples spelling and stuff, I dont really point it out, unless they spelt it horribly wrong. I dont mind if you cant spell well, but I cant stand it when people use poor grammar skills you know they have.

If there's one thing that irks me to no end is the grammar police. It's one of my biggest pet peeves.
