Question Taking Screen Captures

I was wondering for those of you who take screen captures what do you use to take them? I've heard of Snappy, but are there any other things you can use? If anyone could give me any suggestions for what to use to take screen captures that would be really helpful. Thanks.

Snappy sucks, I use it to take captures of my VHS tapes and that's it. It still comes out bad quality, though. And it freezes alot, no signal most of the time.

I use ATI TV Wonder to take screen captures (it has to connect to a cable box, or the back of a TV to get cable if you don't have a box). It takes pretty good captures but it doesn't work properly on XP, so when I want to use it I have to switch computers. It also records video, meaning if you want to record a TV show on the computer you can. I like it but you need Windows 98, otherwise the captures come out green.

I agree with Kristina. Snappy sucks because usually it takes horrible quality pictures. I should sell my Snappy on eBay to some unsuspecting buyer. Anyway, I have something that's kind of dated now, but I'm sure there's a newer version out.

I have an Adaptec VideOh! You can sometimes find them on eBay - thats where I got mine. VideOh! takes awesome quality photos and not to mention you can record video as in mpegs. Problem is it's not compatible with XP.

Question

Thanks for replying.

I was also wondering if either of those devices would be able to take screencaps from a dvd. I found an ATI TV Wonder on Ebay and it said that it can capture from VCRs, Game Consoles, and Camcorders but didn't mention if it could capture from a DVD player.

Well, with the thing I have I can capture from my dvd player although the problem is I can't see what I'm capturing. I'm not sure about the ATI TV Wonder thing. I had something like that when Nick at Nite still did the Block Party Summer marathons. If you go to yahoo and type in VideOh the newer site should come up. I think there's a newer one designed for dvds.
