I don't know how else to describe this but I'm hoping someone knows more about this case.
It was on UM over a month ago and I've seen it a few times but would like to do an internet search on information. It is the case of a couple who lived in a mountain town and the man was found dead. Far away, an older man who did not know him could hear his voice talking to him. He told him that he was murdered. The wife was interviewed. The older man unfortunately died and the case didn't have enough evidence to charge the suspect. This case always scared me. Anyone know anything more? |

I've seen that one. The dead man's name was David Chase and he contacts this older man from beyond the grave, that he was murdered and didn't drown. I would like to believe that David Chase did indeed contact the old man because what he told the old man sounded beleivable. This guy that worked with David Cahse named Matt (the guy accused of his murder) argued with David Chase and made Matt mad and Matt broke Dave's neck with a crowbar. Matt then cut off David's pants and threw him into the river. It's too bad that the old man died, he might of been able to help out the case and it could've been solved.

Does anyone know of an update to this story? I just rewatched it, it's very errie.. what do you make of the psychic story here? It's very believeable I thought, looks to be a very strong possibilty that this other guy Matt has gotten away with murder.

I haven't seen this story but that name did ring a bell. Turns out, another David Chase is the creator of The Sopranos.

Out of all the psychic stories, with the possible exception of Dannion Brinkley, I thought this was the most convincing. DEFINITELY a creepy segment.

I believe it. Many similarities to the Teresita Basa story, which I believe also. I guess they seem more legit to me because it wasn't a psychic relaying the info, but an everyday person.
I wonder what the course of this case might have been if the man supposedly receiving the info hadn't died suddenly. |

Yes, that Matt guy did get away with murder in my opinion. I know the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department wanted him arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder and held on like 200 thousand dollars bail and the DA refused to arrest him. There was talk of a cover up involving this case but I dont know what to make of it. I do think Matt got away with murder and I think he knows it, it wasnt the Sheriff's department though that was the problem here, they had the right guy, it was just the DA wasnt willing to file charges.

As a junior prosecutor, I don't understand WHY charges aren't filed at times in certain cases. I'm not sure if there isn't enough evidence or what, but it is SO frustrating!!

This was also one of those rare segments where an actor or actress playing a real person is actually not as attractive as the real person. While the actress playing David Chase's wife is attractive, the actual person is incredibly stunning.

kadrmas15, I'm surprised at you. For a guy who normally stands up for defendants and against overzealous prosecutors, I would think you'd laugh the idea that someone ought to be arrested and jailed for murder because some guy claims he was visited by the spirit of the deceased right off the board! If I were this Matt person, I'd be royally pissed that my reputation was in the crapper because people believed some kooky old man had "visions" of my dead friend, even though there was exactly zero other evidence that there was even foul play, let alone that I personally was involved. |

Does anyone have any info on this episode. I grew up in Brook Forest/Evergreen and I have met both Matt and David when I was younger. I remember the story of what happened, but I never saw this episode. Matt was not a good person, and I witnessed this about him on many occasions. I had only met David in passing, but I have heard many good things about him. If anyone could provide me with some info I would greatly appreciate it.
