Default Reference on SNL

today i was watching snl and i can't remember who was hosting, but colin quinn was doing weekend update and will farrell and chris kattan were doing yasa arafat (however you spell that) and some other guy representing someone from the middle east and they were saying how they'll never stop fighting b/c ppl love it. then they said that they had a sam/diane relationship: you know if they ever actually got together it would ruinn the whole thing (not my opinion but oh well). anyway i just thought it was kind of interesting and funny and thought i'd tell you!

I think that Sam&Diane are the most famous TV couple.
When you say Sam&Diane.... even people who havent ever seen Cheers know what your talking about.

The other day my mom was watching Dawson's Creek (weirdo).... and one of the guys was talking to the Dawson character saying something like "I can't believe you guys already got together.... I mean, Sam and Diane didnt get together for at least 4 seasons"

Yeah that't true. Cheers was really the first show to have to will they won't they, hate/love thing and that was part of the first 5 season's appeal. Well really that was the whole show. So yeah there would be a lot of other references on any show doing that kind of relationship.

I think if someone would have said Sam and Diane in the 1980's people would automatically know who everybody was talking about but now I don't think so. Most people are watching the newer comedies like Friends, so if someone said Ross and Rachel everybody knows who that is now. But I'm not saying anything against Sam and Diane because they're my favorite TV couple.

About the Ross/Rachel thing.... not really.

People have "a Sam&Diane relationship"
people that arent fans of the show know exactly what your talking about when you say that.

But really.... I have no idea about the Ross/Rachel situation.
And Ive never heard it mentioned.... with out mentioning Friends.

Yeah, the Sam/Diane relationship must have been extremely well known b/c one of my text books on human sexuality referenced the relationship as being typical of male/female behavior--I don't agree, but whatever.
