Default Cousin Maude's Visit

Well I had never seen this episode before and it totally lived up to it's expectations. I LOVE Maude, I love Bea Arthur and this episode instantly has become one of my favorites.

The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

I love how Maudie makes Archie some "Cream of Wheat with Cheese....it's light, but it BINDS!"

Yes, this is a funny episode. I like the part when Archie says, "This country was ruined by Franklin Delano Roooooosavelt!" and then the look on Maude's face, lol!

Archie met his match with Maude. They should have had her on a few more episodes.

2. The first time was when she was staying with the Bunkers and the 2nd time was when Archie and Edith went to her daughters wedding.

You'd think they would because Maude was such a liberal, but I'll bet if her daughter ever got serious with Lionel it could get iffy! lol

I think Maude would have gotten along great with Louise, but would have locked horns with George for sure! Boy, that would have been a good episode, but I think George was introduced long after Maude appeared. They were still using Henry (his brother) if anyone.

Basically I think Maude was only ever introduced as a launch to her own show. They just wanted to test the waters to see if audiences would like her (which we sure did). People used to refer to my mother as Maude - she did look a lot like her back then - right down to the pantsuits with the long vests. LOL

This was a great ep! The best put-down I ever heard was on this ep. It was after Archie and Maude had the fight over FDR and he gets Maude so riled she gets out of his favorite chair. He then turns to her as if to say Nyah-nyah-nyah -nyah "and I got my chair back" Maude replies you can have your chair Archie. Just don't move around too much, I wouldn't want you to crush your brains.

I loved Maude. Nobody could drive Archie crazier than she.

One of the best eps!
